    Hi Mr. Apathy
I've just spent some time working through your earlier posts as I do many artists here to see their humble beginnings... I was just wondering who you studied regarding anatomy. I mean your environments are breathtakingly captivating and what's more, simple (so many giant cluttered cityscapes on CA.org - which is nice but I like the calm of your work) but I'm fascinated as to how you balanced learning both figures and landscape.
    Cheers

Damn. Somehow I don't think I've been through your pages of adventure yet. Your paintings have come a long way in the last year, looking back at your previous pages, and your landscapes are stellar! Beautiful moods, and great sense of wonder and narrative without putting characters in them. Fantastic stuff man, I'll definitely come back for more. I don't really have any crits, at least nothing I need to mention that you don't already know. Keep kickin' ass!

howdy man, it's been too long. what's shakin

every time I see your stuff it makes me want to try painting a landscape. but mine never turn out. you make it look so easy. really awesome designs and it's so awesome that you always make videos.

however it would be great to see you get out of the landscape scene and start doing some mechanical architectural stuff again. polish up some of those skills.

haven't seen you online for a while, you really busy? saw the vid of you guys in Seattle great fun, maybe i'll get to one of these someday. keep inspiring, cheers

Also, I somehow totally didn't hear about Gorilla Artfare until today and that place is blowing my mind. How could something that awesome exist I not know about it? I have to pay more attention around here.

DanielC: I suck at figures Thanks buddy. I think we've had this conversation - it's relatively simple to copy what you see regardless of what it is, especially compared to creating it from the mind - and you don't want to see my figures from the mind.

Here is my Last Man Standing entry for round one. Don't ask me how I won @_@ I love/hate this painting.

    Characters/Creatures: (WTF?! Characters?)

    Mutant Zombies Yay!

    Studies from Reference:

Lost motivation on this one, but still learned a great deal.
Altered the lighting from reference a bit too, fun!

Working on drawing moar. Learned some goodies but goofed on the arms.

Faces are so hard! This looks nothing like the reference. But I'm working on it

Lots of things clicked on this one. Though it's not the best likeness I found sketching more and measuring less produced a more enjoyable result and perhaps better.

A few of us at work have started doing 1 hour long studies at lunch of either paintings or photographs, been so valuable to me in a few ways. Using other paintings has been great to learn others methods and process etc and limiting the time to 1 hour has really helped me get quicker and "confident".

Anyways, here are the studies. Most are no where near as finished as I would like - missing eyes, wonky faces etc - but they have seriously been great

Hey buddy, really sweet stuff here. You did real nice on some of these studies and I particularly like the Kanevski piece, he's one of my favs. You're better at faces than you probably think you are. Whip out the old pencil and paper and try your hand getting the proportions, values, and rendering right without erasing or lasso trapping. Think more before you make your strokes, put down less. Coming along nicely though! keep an eye out for me, I'll be starting a solo sketchbook soon.

PS: i was wondering, how do you get that soft blended look? im assuming thats photoshop right? i mean i can see how its possible with painter but i don't suppose its smudge tool?

Awesome man! I like where your arts going. I know your last man standing piece is all ready done but. I think her pose is a little stiff, drooping her elbow into her side with the sword hand, I think it would give it even more grace. With the hand picking her dress up, the hand looks placed there not clenched onto the dress. If you where to holding on to it, it would be more of a fist and thumb hidden instead of the flat hand. I think you can still make this look graceful with those crits. Maybe I am just full of it.. I did a quick OP show my thoughts a little more. Keep it up. http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/8782/dsdsaxe3.jpg
