Again the simplicity is a pleasure to the eyes. Too many line gives me a headache; this headache occurs every time I draw. I learn from the best.![]()
Nice red roof of your home. Is it spacious and did you design/build it?

Hehe. I had the same idea with showing my home from sattelite view. I looked at Tokyo in when I got Google Earth and this city has no end. My hometown would be propably small district of it.
Love the gouache painting. It's great medium.
As always - great to see your stuffThanks for the eye-candy
Keep having fun![]()
thanks a lot for dropping in to all.
ashrumm - thanks man, i will.
ccsears - they're less than ¥600 here and are refillable of course, i have them a couple of years now. so i think it's pretty good. but yeah - they do kick ass..
mattgamer - haha, no man. i wish i'd have the money to buy my own land and design/built my own house right now. i will some day, but it'll have to wait a while. i do know the main set-up already though.
my apt is also my studio and my wife's office all in 54 m2 (roughly 581 sqft.).
that's pretty big for a house in tokyo but it's definitely small especially with the work areas crammed in there. we used to be able to have one person sleep on the floor between the kitchen and the living room but now that's not even possible anymore. when i was studying here i had an average house for the average japanese family which is like 34 m2 for 3.2 people.![]()
farvus - yeah - google earth is the shit. i used to have dreams of something like google earth before it was there and now that it is here i really like to fly over to pyongyang or something and chill over there a bit.
dannysketch - yep gouache it is man.. not easy but you can leave the paints on your palette and keep using it when you rewet it..
windmaker - cheers man, you too. liked your new figure gesture paints.
jens - thanks man, good to hear from you.
people from bienalle in china keeping me busy. i'll talk about it later but well, it's a lot of work hehe.
some quick sketches, looking forward to doing a more finished ill but for now i'm enjoying my time with a new sketchbook, and wondering about watercolours versus gouache, and space in a drawing versus in real.![]()

great stuff tensai. i really like your experimentation of approaches, like with the roof oneliners. plus seeing your subway stuff helps getting me to go out in public to draw.
nice watercolours man, what paper are you using them on?
You might of tried em before, but I got my hands on a calligraphy chisel pen, they make drawing so easy and rediculously fun.

The recent nudes and the faces done in expressive contours were really compelling.
When I see how much you work, I get ashamed. It inspires me to work more. I guess I have to go to life workshop Saturday morning and draw my fingers off.

wtf? I haven't commented here yet? Seriously awesome stuff you've got, I love the line work and especially the watercolour work you've got. Oh, and the environment work. Hell, it's all awesome and some of the most inspirational work I've seen, makes me want to do more environmental drawings again
love these watercolours , looks soo cool that i have to try it out too.
thnx for the inspiration.
Really cool lifedrawing stuff Tensai, the confidence you show with pen is great. I have to say i really enjoyed your cat piece from a page back.

the way you setup the cats guides the viewers eyes in the sketch through the zigzag maze of buildings, roofs, metal that you drew out really well.I really think it worked well in the sketch. You lost a little of the effect once you added the value to it, but its still a great piece, one of my favorites from your sb so far. Looking forward to the next big thing man.

TUNAFISH SAMMICHES?!
Love your linework! Has a nice rhythm and the feeling of volume/depth is nicely represented in the subjects still.
You're in Tokyo? LOVE Tokyo. I wish we (my SO and I) were visiting again soon - he has relatives there.
Your style of recent is really impressive...especially with those life class pieces, i may have to try a similar exercise in my next class. Thanks for the comments too.

Wow such a small living space. We have an extra room in our home and an entry living room, dining room, and another living room. It's pretty awesome considering where you live now. We can fit many people in our house, ha ha and my dad is the pastor of a church. So I could have studio there if I wanted. Ha ha!
I'm really diggin the watercolors in your last two. I need a place where I can just open up watercolors and start painting without having to set up a place to do so. Ha ha and that's a foreigner? Looks like an Ameri-- oh haha uh, cheers!

Awesome figure drawing. You have done them very simple but cool.
Watercolours are pure gold.
especially that second one, absolutely stunning colour application.
Think you should seriously do tons more of those.
And more gouache.
Last bunch of drawings are candy too, but I'm liking some of your previous stuff more. I think here there a lot more curves, whereas some of your earlier ones had (to me, at least) a better balance between curved and angular lines. Just a preference of mine of course, these are really good.
always fun to stop by here, so throw us another update soon!

Tensai, more and more I feel that if I blink, your drawings will change positions.... amazing dynamic
With the watercolours you are just being mean to us. superb.
cheers man.

:o..your line astonishes me as usual ..i m big fan of your last watercolor , very very dynamic..i dunno if your architectural work are influenced (certainly i think) by your graphic work but i m very curious to see the result.
thx for inspiration and keep posting !
Wow tensai, i'm really liking those watercolors. It'd be great to see you do a whole cityscape, or scene by doing that style. Kinda reminds me of the james jean watercolors. Can't wait for some more!
Love it!
