Hi,my name is John and im 20 years old and new to this forum and im def new to drawing from life.Ive been drawing for a few years now but mostly from photos,or copying my favorite comic book characters. All of that recently got old to me so i started sketching from old master drawings and started studying loomis, bridgeman, vanderpoel as well as others and i continue to do so but now im starting life drawing here at a community college and this is my first real attempt at it other than a few short pose studies which i should really be focusing on more but yeah enough of my biography! haha heres a study i did in about an hour or so with a sanguine pencil.
yeah im a noob!
one more thing!
i really love this forum and how everyone can share there struggles without shit talk but with real advice and knowledge passed on from those with experience.I plan on sharing most of what i do on here.

Wow, a lot of fantastic stuff in this thread. Ved, Dangerousllama, Main Loop, very inspiring.
So I'm a complete noob on the forum here but I'd like to post some recent gestures & a couple longer poses and get some comments/crits from those who do it best. Here goes.

I've only been doing life drawing for about 2.5 months, and I absolutely love it...

Hey everyone - this thread is amazing! I am trying to improve on my figure work and started attending weekly sessions in the local Arts district. I figured I'd share some of the results - these are all digital because I wanted to practice my photoshoppery as well

Drawing isn't one of my strengths, I much prefer paint, but here's the best of 2 weeks of life drawing.
Awesome stuff dudes! Keep on rocking![]()

My contribution using Painter done a few months ago. I did manage to go to my first nude figure drawing opportunity...i created a lot of trash will post that soon hopefully. crits welcome.
I haven't posted here in a few months. These are from the last two sessions (two weeks). Looking back at what I posted earlier it's funny how I approach the figure now compared to back then. Weird. Sorry for the poor digital camera images (any suggestions to make the images sharper?), these are 1-15 min.
Well this is very old as I haven't had time to scan in my recent ones.

wow what a fantastic array of styles! I really love a lot of this work.
Here's my last life drawing (graphite on canson paper - 2 week pose)

Zombpunk- That first one is amazing! I love the contrast. Your colored figure studies are breathtaking too. Everyone looks so mean haha.
Pmcclory - Your work almost looks like Kinjarks! So realistic.:
:
Ved- I admire your freeflowing use of charcoal and gestures. I wish I could be as loose as you.. that sounded wrong lol /snicker
Here are some of my last semesters work:
Something I tried to tinker with in painter, failed:
I have a lot more, but access to a scanner is really out of the question for me..
keep 'em rolling

Thanks! Here's another - I was stood 2 metres away from her...

amongst some insanely good work here i post some of my own humble offerings, some proportions a bit off on some but it was good fun, anything from a couple of mins to 20 or so......
charcoal.....
from pencil....
that last pencil was from life but asking us to use our imagination by making a hero type character....well sort of anyway lol
and a couple of quick acrylics.....
alas i don`t get to life drawing much anymore, a pity as i really enjoyed it.....maybe in the future, i`d like to get back to it.....
kudos to everyone here, awesome work!
kris
