bordon,
im honored to be the first to reply to your post!
i looked at your work on deviantart, and it is sensational!
(man, there were a lot of pieces!)
you have a real flair for drawing.
this piece does not do your body of work justice.
if i were to find any fault with your work it would be two things...
one; obvious heavy influences (at times).
usually, it didnt bother me, but every now and then i would see a piece that was just too "shirow".
but you are learning, so, "no big deal".
secondly,
given the medium you are using, you are not achieving a true black in any of your pieces.
this reduces their legibility greatly at a small scale.
perhaps going back into the piece with a little bit of ink would help to re-establish the wonderful line work.
welcome to ca!
i really look forward to your new website.
please let us know a little more about you.
thank you so much for the comment and the welcome!
I'm a shirow fan and hat's why you can see a lot of his influence in my work.
Thanks again![]()
I like watercolor and the shading in it. But the whole piece is too "confusing". Can't really tell what's going on with so many characters scattered around. Can't even tell who's the major character and who's the side kicks. I would try to pay more attention to one or two characters, put more details and use stronger contrast on the focused characters, and dim out the rest. By the way, what's this for? Looks like something intend for a cover or something.
thanks for the comment.
no. it's just an illustration I did o my free time.

Seconding the thought that the image is slightly confusing. I still like it, but yeah. Maybe it's a composition thing.
I agree with everything DS said. Your work would improve greatly if you beefed up the colors and the blacks some. Right now, even though they are well drawn, they have a very washed out look. Have you ever experimented with gouache? It might be nice to go over some areas with it to brighten them up.
thanks for the comment
