The Bourgeau study is beautiful, and you might be the first person to make van gogh happy!

Crit Crit, try not to let the strokes get too messy, like on the hair and wings of the cherub, your smooth surfaces are beautifully rendered, but the textured parts need some lovin' too.

    StaylorHehe, thanks for stopping by.
Good call on the crit too, i tend to blend my values too much with a stump, i'll make a mental note to keep it to a minimum

This is a character I did after watching Marko Djurdjevics excellent DVD. The legs are really mushed up, must study them more...

Edit: can't show this one yet, stay tuned

That comic book stuff is looking really good, the last page especially. I love the watercolorish texture to the background, really sets the mood.

Welcome back! I've missed you even more than I've missed the nightmares your artwork gives me. Like this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ead_front1.png what the hell is that, and for the love of god, why?

Figures seem a little off in the vampire comic, mostly I think because their heads look too big (and maybe they're not, but I expect them to be smaller in a comic). That's very nice, efficient inking, though, and there's great attention to detail.

Hey there max, glad to see you too! I'll pop in your sketchbook later today Thanks for pointing out the wonky anatomy in the comic book page!, i've become blind to the whole mess.

The alienhead is something that i made in z-brush when i had had 4 hours of sleep and had been working for 9 hours here's a batboy in that same vein

and a quick and dirty photoshop

here is a head of an older woman i've been working on. WIP

Batboy--now you're actively trying to make me complain about how disturbing that is. I refuse. It reminds me of a fluffy bunny and fills me with happy thoughts.

I will complain about filesizes though. It's taking this page a really long time to load. You can probably compress your images a bit more without ruining the quality.

The textures on the 3D stuff are pretty impressive. They still look a little like plastic, but if there's a way around that, movie studios with much larger budgets than you (I have to assume) haven't yet found it. Does Z-brush have cool texturing tools? The older woman does look better with less saturation. Turning down her specularity a little might help some with the plasticity.

I was going to make a smartass comment like, "You know what makes people look really good? Eyeballs!" But then I compared the eyeless woman to batboy and changed my mind.

    Hey there Max!

i'm glad you got the essence of the batboy, inside he's all about cuddles and happy things

The loadtime is something that i'm trying to keep down, if i were less lazy guy i'd link the older images, but... I try to compress them more in the future!

The plasticity is mainly due to the default shader i use in zbrush. When i figure out how to translate the highpoly into decent normalmaps things will be better . I'll render them with mental ray and use spec maps and the like. Zbrush has really awesome texturing tools, i heartily recommend trying it, it's really intuitive to use and it's possible to get decent results even if you're a newbie like me

I agree on the eyeballs thing, lazy me

    a new concept sculpt
