LADYTRON! DAMMIT! Had I not had relatives stopping into town, the Glamazon and I would've joined you Guggs. There's nothing quite like hearing Destroy Everything You Touch live...Between Peter Murphy popping into town and the Glamazon's band Wolf Parade, my head's been a'spinning trying to keep up with my musical options...
T-Rexxor: With the traffic Atlanta breeds from its swollen, sprawling loins, no one's going to fault you for skipping the Tuesday meeting. I know the Sunday Night event is kicking back up soon for the South-ATL krewe, which is a good way to end the weekend/start the week.
I do want to hear about your WW experiences, if you're not gagged by legal paperwork. I'm hoping your putting your stamp on the future of their more horrifying enterprises.

... a cry went up into the shuddering air, and faded to a shrill wailing, passing with the wind, a voice bodiless and thin that died, and was swallowed up, and was never heard again in that age of this world.
If there's a meetup this Sunday I'll be there.
Click here for a good video of Animal Collective:

folks: I'ma hold off on holding greasy sunday majesty tonight: have been on call this weekend and it's a little bit too risky to schedule it. Getting clobbered by work over here all day yesterday and since early morning today. sorry. Should be able to hold it next week. call yr daddies
ethax: wow... Yeah fantastic video! thanks
trevroar: there's a meet up (not concept art per se) that's a lot of fun on monday nights at javalords in L5P beside seven stages (on euclid ave). "Collabadoodle" basically there are paint pens and poster paint markers and everyone collaborates drawing on these plywood boards. pretty fun. from 7:30 – 11 pm. should be able to get GSM going again next sunday as previously mentioned. I checked the link for the band in your sig: we should play some music sometimes. i'm doing these feedback loop / oscillating tremolo sound experiments these days. they require earplugs but sound pretty good i think. still feeling out the expirement but i'm getting more comfortable with all the sonic possibilities there. open geeetar tunings too.
5t319INE®: ha! unfortunately i didn't make it to the ladytrombone show, but heard a good review. apparently this time there was more of a light show than a video show like i saw last time they came through. not conducive to dancing too, apparently, which vindicates my having had to work late and not feeling up to the epic challenge of getting myself over there. will try and post music show listings a little bit sooner next time around.
show notes: boris is coming in early july. SILVER APPLES on June 30 at The Earl!!!
Richard Bishop is playing soon too in a tribute performance to a collaborateur from Sun City Girls.
um, i think that's it. sorry about tonight... i want to hold GSM but work refuses to stop the plaguing.
PANTS!
heres a show for you that are old enough to remember AWESOME
august 18 at the drunken unicorn is big business
and the melvins
we all know the melvins
and the 2 dudes in BB are now IN the melvins
but they are also the 2 surviving members of KARP
so hot damn we have a sweet fuggin show
DUDES NIGHT OUT!
cause..... usually the ladies dont care for either band hahahaha
well
its time
next time i see you i will have some amazing rock for you sir
melvins, big business, and one of my favorites of all time
KARP!
btw
im going to dr sketchys at east side lounge tonight
8:00
i crave some life drawing and douchy bar ambience
which i will not get at the collaborative thing you mentioned
Gugg: I'm planning to hit the Tuesday meet. Do I read your pig latin correctly, and the meet is moving to the taco mac down the street from the Borders?
Trevor: If you're coming out, can you bring the Spindle? Thanks a ton for keeping it company!
drawlings from tonight
http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...99#post1805599
marco mazzoni and i went with a few coworkers
maybe i can coax them into posting theirs up as well hahaha
Ah, The Melvins. There's the underpainting to the sort of fellow our man Trevor is. Let the spinning locks of rock be swung about our heads! Awesome indeed.
Trevor: Solid work from the Doktor Sketchy event. Personally, and I believe a few of us would attest to this, THIS is a much better time...Hot tots and burlesque...
Wesifex: You're going to have to refer to Trevor 1.0 by one of his finger-free codenames now that we have multiple Trevors in the group...In all honesty, I'm thinking about changing my name to Trevor just to add a necessary dose of confusion to the mix...
All: Taco Mac Tuesday! Come on out and sketch, drink, eat, listen to inane officer chatter or cruel breakups from the tables around us, and experience resisting the temptation to use jalapeño-based condiments in ways there were not intended...
I'll be arriving a little late tonight. I've got some post-work cleanup to attend to, but will find you all there around 8.

Sorry I've been MIA, but getting ready for Heroes Con in NC. Hopefully I catch you fellows on a sketch night.
KU, Trevors: Ah, yes the name thing is going to get confusing now. Perhaps Fingerless is "Angry Trevor"?
Are we meeting at Taco Mac tonight, or Borders and then moving to TMac?
trevROOAAR: nice sketches! I dig on the ruby nipple. Suppose one could tweak it and chant there's no place like home...
I dug out the oils again to tackle Cabinet Number 5. Though it may get caught up in Monet's Condo Exodus assuming we can get the place dewinterized so I can inspect it. Buying a home takes too damn long.
Guggs: Whats this about live sculpting? Details, details!
trevroar>>> nice digipaints friend. homemade lingerie for the win. Lots of volume in those 1 minute pose sketches. magical even. hell yeah the music hookup...i'll throw some stuff on cdr to even out the generosity. how do you feel about ventriloquism instructional records? i only wish i were kidding. hahaha
wes / all>>> I mentioned something about this last week to ya wes but there's a few things that ben loaned me that i was going to pass of to you. i'm thinking borders until 9:30 or so then head over to taco mac. hitting taco mac too early might provide more drunkenness and less productivity. any bike riders or other forms of transportation i can help get over there and to stations as applicable.
all>>> re figure sculpting. Ok i talked to this nice lady last night about it, and she provided some information. i gave her my email address and phone number and am hoping that she'll be back in touch with me about it. anyway, once that happens, i'll post up the information here. looked / sounded like a damn good deal, even though no, instruction wasn't provided. anyway, more information forthcoming. imagine my joyous surprise!
all>>> i am seriously thinking about getting some vespa or something of that sort. car-done. thoughts? I'm thining a customized helmet that's modified into some huge monster head or something. haha. maybe.
anyway, thasall i can think of for now...
GUGG ON THA STREEEEETZ
G-Gem: I'll support your scooter-riding ways, but only if you go this route:
Custom Scoots...
I don't want to see you tooling around on one of those retro The Talented Mr. Ripley rides that remind me of Mod fashion and the 60s...And if you decide to customize your own "grape case," the sculpture class you mentioned might provide some valuable insight...
The thought of more sculptors in the group is exciting. That means I can bring out my Kato clay and not look like I'm the slow, dim-witted one in the group.

see, i was thinking some riff on gwar-style commuter-wear.
complete with launchable bits of styrofoam and maybe various liquid squirters.
I'm thinking of designing a "leave bloody trails attachment."
this is a little bit in the.... um, lesssay ... conceptual phase at this point.
gotta toughen up the fuel efficient look for the late night drives thru tha swats.
see yalls tonight!
G(WAR)-Gem: I think you're onto something there. I'm not afraid to admit that I had a huge crush on Slymenstra Hymen when I was but a wee dreamer...
Ah, GWAR. That was a good way to return my day to a more delightful path...
All: I'm going to be out for an incredibly brief time tonight. Two shots of Patrón and a "Use the glow tool" brief...

All: Sorry not to show, limping around with a knee injury from Krav Maga class just prior to tonight's meetup. I'm home letting the housewench fetch me comforting chocolate chip cookies. I'll see you all soon, hopefully!
heh
Props to ali, trev, and ben for rollering like a coaster this eve. What's our next bigger shindig gonna be? i'd like to hit fernbank museum of natural history or even collab with a few others (each with their own sketchbook to tackle of course) on completing a sketchbook in a week. things to think about. monet of the magical paper stump had mentioned a housewarming / grilling time. It's possible that i could host something or other at my new house now taht i'm more or less moved in / unpacked. geez is everyone moving? I know that ku is packing up the moat and heading over to another lofty precipice.
One thing that i'll def. get on the books and in the terraces is gonna be a SPRINTER RICE ON THE OTHER release party, hopefully last weekend in June. More details forthcoming on that, fiends. This issue is gonna pump the primary. more on that later. time to DRAW then sleep...

So much happening. So much.
I'm pleased to see the group starting to rev the engines again. We had a month or two of down time that needs to be shrugged off, frozen away with liquid nitrogen, or simply skewered with whatever tetanus-spreading implement we can find...Any of the above events sound worthwhile. I think we'll punch through this summer with the usual artistic fury.
Is it ROTO time already? I've heard good things are in the work for those of use who subsist on heaping servings of independently produced serial art.
Wesifex: Ouch, man. I hope the other guy's doing okay...without his face...
G-Gem: As usual, thanks for posting up the information about the various art events happening around town. I'll have to bow out of any end-of-June festivities. I'll be portraying Groomsmen #3 in an upcoming wedding that last weekend.
If anyone is going after the DEEP prize, good luck. Big prizes up for grabs.

Another ROTO on the horizon? Can't wait to see what this one's like. The last one was stellar. Congrats to Guggz and any submitters for keeping that going strong!
KU: No such luck on the other guy's face. Locked out my knee on a thrust kick due to a pad holder not paying attention. I didn't know a joint could sting like that. Anything from you going into ROTO?
Angry-Teat Trevor: Sorry to stick you with disc babysitting duty again this week. Barring more numbskulls at class, I'll be there next Tuesday to relieve you.
Misc: The wife bought me a graphic novel by Top Cow called Firstborn, with some absolutely amazing digitally-rendered art in it. I'll make sure to bring it along to the next meet, along with some plastic sheeting to protect it from drool.
Edit: Forgot to post this. Who wants one of these?

I got to head up to Calhoun's Harris Art Center last night to catch an art opening featuring some great pieces by our very own Melissa (Mootyka)! really top notch work going on from her. figurative paintings and lots of multimedia experimentation. visited with Rosco. he has befriended a stuffed toy mallard that he is extremely posessive of. like, take it away from him and he growls. "GIMME BACK MY DUCK DAMNIT"

that's a gold star find, wes!
full scale alien: definitely need that for the casa de guggm living room. if the grisly alien mouth dispensed coffee and condiments i'd buy one right now. put the knit caps on it.
a coworker pointed out this excellent model built with zbrush: finally a hulk that's like... "30 heads" tall? or is that "25 thumbs" tall...
Oh yeah. found this out last night!
...among other Louvre masterpieces this september. and chinese terracitta soldiers in November. seems as if i snapped up the membership at the right time.
In other huge, awesome news:
this painting is coming to atlanta

P.S. greasy sunday majesty this sunday at 7, majestic diner on ponce. hope to see you guys there.
I'm not going to say what I see in this picture. If I had a psychiatrist, he/she would be filling out a prescription right now to up my dosage...
I was just planning out my writing assignments when this happened. How am I supposed to focus with this bundle of hand-wrapped awesome preparing to be unleashed upon us?

I'm planning another visit out to the Borders. Sorry to hear the Gugg isn't going to be there. Who else is down for the meet tonight?
Thanks to Angry-Trevor for keeping my company last night at the Borders. He had his laptop out, and was working on some interesting stuff. I'm giving him until next week to finish up the six unfinished pieces in his book. Let's all point and jeer if he doesn't! Peer pressure..peer pressure...
Anybody who hasn't read the Wanted graphic novel really needs to. The art is good, but not stellar; the writing IS stellar. I'm planning a midnight premiere show for myself and the wife as a direct result, though I hear the plotline is a departure from the original. Also reading the Watchmen book for the first time, though the old-school primary colors are playing tennis with my eyeballs.
Angry-Trevor: watch out for the floppy-earred elves. the end is nigh.
Just dropping by in advance of my departure for this last wedding. Sorry to be absent from the meeting last night, but work is as work does (whatever the hell that's supposed to mean)...
I'm afraid I'm going to wait for Wanted on disc. You can't sell me on a movie with just Jolie, Freeman, and car stunts. I do like the director. Nightwatch/Daywatch are solid contributions to cinema from the Russian market, but I'm just not there to pay the cash for a theater seat.
Wesifex: When you finish with Moore's Watchmen, track down Baltimore: Or, The Steadfast Tin Soldier and the Vampire by Mignola. That will keep the entertainment steaming along...
Adieu...

Sorry for being MIA on Tuesday folks, was planning on making the trip but my midafternoon nap went on a little bit longer than I expected (like two hours over).
But enough excuses, before the next meeting on Tuesday I wanted to post some work from my sketchbook....according to the instructions in the sketchbook thread I just have to start a new thread and paste the scanned drawings in right? Any tips on what else I shoud know about posting a sketchbook would be greatly appreciated.
I like peer pressure
so dre and I will be up north for about 10 days so we will be missing for that time. sorry we havent been as present at the meetings as we would have liked, i hate saying this but work, both art and non, have kept us from the gathering of sexy minds every tuesday.
hope everyone is well, and ill see if i can bring back some real pizza from ny so you can understand the power of an Alfrescos slice.
miss everyone
