    hey man, awesome updates.

i envy your characters. your pencils are beautifull.

this latest painting, i figure it's a wip. the rendering looks very cool. try and get rid of, or at least thin/clean up the dark lines.
looking forward to shifting through your real sketchbook in montreal!

    peace dude

Hey Interceptor! ::munches on bacon:: Thanks for the free grub! You sure know how to host a sketch book!

I think the character's left arm (our right) on the last one looks a bit too short. I love the sandles. Great sketches.

    Keep rockin'!
Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Absence and booze.

There are no small sketchpads, just small artists.

The make-perfect button must come from within.

Gatery looks better then ever, and I love this latest sketch of him. Lots of feeling in it, and the NY chick is hot, lol. Keep working on those colors too dude.

Hey man love the way you used the reference on the girl sketch. The paint on gatery is looking nice also, a nice blend of cell coloring and painting.

Now for a crit. I would like to see some sharper faces. What I mean by that is that almost all your figures have a very round shape to the bottom of the chin. Is it a stylistic decision to do that? If it is I would think it over some because it's making an otherwise great sketchbook look repetitive. This also happens with your noses. Try and break out of that same shape you use for them. It's a nice formula but don't relay on it to much.

Cool work man Keep it up.

Hmmm. Only advice is that you should try doing a few more gesture drawings... I think it'd really help you to get your ideas down faster, which means more ideas! Keep it up, good luck.

cartoonfox - Thank you very much! I look forward to stealing your.. er.. I mean looking at your sketchbook

Bad Brownie - Glad you are enjoying all of the free bacon! You're right about the arm. I'm not sure if I can save it at this point :'( I should have posted more wips. Thank you very much for your advice.

Julien - Thanks, man! I've such been spending alot of time looking over other people's color works and thinking of color theory. I think I am starting to understand. But as you can see by the image below I still have a very very long way to go. Thanks for your support!

thnikkaman - I think I read somewhere that you got accepted to ACAD? Or maybe that was someone else from the UST. Either way, thanks alot, man. I love you

bengonzalez - I think after I finish this piece I am going to grab myself a couple new fashion magazines and draw those poor too skinny girl's faces. Thanks for opening my eyes

Rolo - Wow! I think you're giving me way too much credit! But I appreciate your very kind words. Keep on practicing, bro!

Pixeldragoon - Yes, I have no good excuse of why I have not been doing more gestures

I need help, yo. The shirt and shorts are NOT making the grade.
    Update.

I think the overall pose of the character takes away from the depth of the picture. He seems pretty flyswatted, maybe change the lighting to produce more castshadows from his figure and create more interest. His clothes also seem flat, I'd introduce some folds, wrinkles and more suggestions of underlying form.

Int my main man, I haven't been in here in like.... forever or something.
Anyways your stuff is looking sexay, specially the girlies
The paints are commin along, I think if you tried adding some more color to those it coulds really make them come alive. Less browns peaches and tans, more greens, reds, purples and blues.

    rock on

    Heya, LOREN !!!
So you decide to update your sketchbook daily ? That's nice goal, I think. You will made a lot of progress and feel more comfortable with your medium like that, I think.
About your last pic, I find it's fine. Maybe not in the mood of spring, but there's a couple of good things, like the eyes. Nice done, my man !
    Cheers, Inty !

Julien You're bery right! It did not captire the mood well at all. I need to plan ahead I think haha. I always enjoy your visits to me sketchbook

WolfBane I love Metal gear, also. I will attempt to draw Snake when i get better with my brushwrok . CHEERS!

HiddenSin hehehe, you're just being kind. Feel free to be brutally honest with me.

PaperWings1 install! Paint away, little dancer!!

Here is another speed paint for the day. Pure enviro
it sucks, but it was a blast to do.
It's supposed to be a bird's eye view of a beach. About15 minutes.

please be really harsh with me on this, I am terrible with my enviros, but I have alot of fun doing them. I knew this piece is unreadable without a description.

Ok I totally erases everything I wrote, oy! I'm such a fuck head.
anyway, Basically what I said what I like how you were seeing how the hair fit's on the head, nice! and I was also saying I see you are really paying attention to how the shadows lay on the face.
Now here is my crit... push your cool light and warm shadow more. The shadow is warm, but the light is so neutral it makes her skin look pastey( it also looks pastey because you have one color for the whole face, when actually if you look really hard at someones face it has many different colors, this is called tempature change) Temp. change is more obvious in light turning into shadow.
I also told you once before I think that ok.. Warm light/cool Shadow, and Cool light/ Warm shadow( this is what your girls face is doing, the cool light)
Do a study: A head that has Warm light/cool shadow, and another head that has cool light /warm shadow. And push the shit out of the warms and cools, meaning saturated it. then do another set that isn't so saturated, then another, kinda like chipping away at the saturateing, untill you see the subtle change in cool and warm.
Really look at peoples faces you will see what I am talking about. take pics of yourself with this kind of lighting, and also look at yourself from life. just observe. haha! wow I sound crazy. hope this helped. If it didn't ask me what you didn't get.
this is good you are going to post a sketch everyday, I should do that as well.

    Yo Loren,

check out idiot apathy's thread, he helps me out heaps, I call him master. So much to learn from that guy, he's king when it comes to colour.

As for the chick, I think the form of her face is a little off, the hair seems to have lighting from directly above but sort of disappears instantly as it hits her nose. What Tiff said, a quick study will fix it. As for colours, I think it's too monochromatic, I am not good at colours myself but, I think you need to let things mix a little instead of just adding white and black to your local colour.

Enviro, I think is a little confusing, it's very rushed and held very loosely. I quite like the colours though, it needs more contrast, but overall it's quite a boring landscape I would say. a little flat too. I already gave you some directions on msn, hehe so yeah. You should also do some ref studies, sketches, eeeek, and all this coming from me!! I suck at enviro but like you I want to get better. Anyways, we'll chat more on msn bud. cheers,

    Min

Poise / Min - Thank you both for always drilling this information into me. It is sinking in, trust me!! You two are great friends

Here are some bugs. I can't stand bugs. So I drew them to get over it, and to get a base to start designing creatures.

    --------------------------------------Stolen!!-----------------------------

My sketchbook was stolen in a coffeeshop. Sons of bitches.
Here is the first page of my new book, plus a speedpaint over it. This was my first time using painter. I have to say I really love the program. Hopefully I will begin to learn it a bit better. I need a new tablet as well... the nub on my pen is sticking. This is a rant.... i hope the blogs will be back up, soon. ehehe

thnikkaman We'll definately do something. But I don't drink anymore, so I can't really help you there, lol. I recently quit.

ArcoNL Thanks, bro. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way about them
