i am having a very hard time of understanding the head area of ur sketchbook pro sketch above. ok, now i see his two hands holding the stick and his foot is behind, that all is very similar in value, try to bring the hands more forward in contrast... I still do not understand what is going on with the head though.... Keep workin at it, digital is a tough transition but work at it and it will come, no worries.

I like the narrative in your most recent drawing. I think the lighting is a little inconsistent though. The man is getting a lot of bounce light creating a strong core shadow on the shirt, but the monster's arm is not getting any of that
