Kfeeras' Freaky Styley SB now with Digitals

    HI guys,

i felt a lack of motivation to draw the last weeks so to keep me on my pencil i've decided to start my CA-SB.

December 06 I started practising Anatomy, I went trough all the "Structure-of-man"-Videos. I think they're great for learning proportions but if you want to draw the figure in action you have to look further. I found the Loomis-Book about Figure Drawing useful and after reading that Marko started with Hogarth's Dynamic Anatomy I got me a copy from ebay.

Bout me: I'm a 21 yo Student from Munich, I was born in Croatia and have lived my first 10 years in Berlin.

    Enough words, lets go!

The pics attached are drawings from the last few months: Hogarth/Loomis-Refs, Drawings from the head and from the structureofman-Vids.

I hope to find enough time in the future to draw more and of course post it here. ;-) c&c very welcome.

CU 'n Have a nice day!!

    -Antonio

@katsgod: thanx!! i'll have a look at yours when i find the time ;-)

@hurley: i will, thx!! i made the last digi after watchin' bobby chiu's videos.. (digitalbobert on youtube), pretty motivating! i think i'll wait with adding color cause i want to concentrate on value/shade in painting. but my first priority now is anatomy/loomis.

    thx guys'n cu

    Quick Chix and a painting

The first pic is what I do from time to time: Grab a sheet and draw little quick female anythings from ref.
The second one i painted in gouache at school. It was really fun to paint and to "splatter"

    WIP - Avril

Hey guys, i spent the last three days drawing a pic of Avril Lavigne. (reason i did not update). You can't recognize her face on the drawing, i tried but finally gave up, i think its to small for me to place the facial parts correctly, just wanted to achieve a realistic face.
this was the first time i worked on a pic for more than 1 hour (this took me 5 hours - time flies by), this was an important lesson for me: must not be impatient and really WORK on a piece. i think i could work another 3 hours on it but i see it a finished
i learned much from it - the pic has of course a thousand things to make better but i'm kinda proud of it ;-) it was really fun to draw it, it's hard to stay concentrated AND look at this hottie ;-) please crit, please destroy it, have a nice day ;-) (ref pic can be found here

Nice work on the Avril rendering~yup, doing finished pieces(or atleast pieces that are beyond the point of being called doodles) is great training.

I'm seeing some proportion issues(is the head way too large or am I imagining things? o.0) and I think you pushed the shadows too dark. Nonetheless, nice work - keep it up!

    hogarth

Hi guys, here's a few hogarth-leg practices i am doing recently. (don't mind the orange lines;-).
not everybody likes his stylized figures, but i think he's the best when it comes to figure in motion - you won't find any straight front- or sideviews of anything in his books. on the other hand i also think you should know the muscles before you use his books. (i did the-structure-of-man vids before).
the last pic is a little batman-"redesign" i did in school today while being bored.

    Hi!

I like the way you rendered Avril, but it would be nice if you had an extra study of her face Do you have a Finished thread somewhere? Also, your Batman is really cool, although I'm sure alot of people will never admit he got old and got a beer belly

hey man - I really am digging your work on the tablet, and while I want to see color along with other posters - i think you're prolly doing the right thing with sticking with the B+W. Make sure you have a super strong grasp on the values of gray before moving onto color, and also just make sure not to get too caught up trying to learn everything at once. Other than that try doing some more studies on faces like Boky said if you'd like to be able to make a face resemble the person it is (a task that seems all too difficult)

your stuff is looking good though, and you're definitely making improvements :] keep up the good work

@Zombi-dla: Yeah man i will, the next things i want to learn are the back muscles and hands/feet. studies comin soon

@boky: i had a time when i really drew portraits and faces and tried to get them recognizable, a few turned out well, most did not. i think thats normal, but at that time i felt kinda disappointed and started drawing other things (landscapes, objects, cars). I'll go into studying faces when I finish hands/feet. ( i practise a three-part-way: first I learned the bodies basic proportions and simple shapes of the muscle groups, then, now, i'm learning the muscles in a more detailed way along with the face/hands/feet, and as the third step i'll go into really detailed studies of the bodyparts to get all the "landmarks", wrinkles etc. right. then i'll go into drapery, machinery, enviros etc., so that in a few years i can issue daredevil-comics on a regular basis ;-)

And no, i have no finished section, simply because i have as good as no finished pieces done recently. I did not post avril in the finished sec because it's no conceptart and entirely from reference.

@soul Karl: thanx, it's a thing i learned from the bobby chiu podcasts and various other sources: one thing at a time. i don't want practise color, lightning and figure drawing at once. This is a thing I learned while practising guitar and piano. For some reason, getting the BW right is more important for me at the moment... we learn much about applying color in art-school, anyway.

Thanx for posting Guys and haveaniceday

    ;-)

I drew the first one while listening to pearl jam's better man like a ten times. didn't think much on this one, just let it flooowww... ;-) the neck is waaaay to big and there are a lot anatomy issues for sure but i don't care for this one.
the second one is the start of me now finally studying hands, my left hand in the mirror. i'm tired today, i'll post more tomorrow morning.
