Hi all,
painted this yesterday with my mouse and the gimp.
the main aim was to create a believable skin effect.
once you got used to your wacom, painting with the mouse is not really funny anymore.....
hope to get some c&c

You painted that with a mouse and Gimp...? Kudos man. That takes more patience than I have!!!
I can give a few comments though..:
First, Watch your edges... the metal eye has an edge similar to that of the natural eye... metal would be sharper and cleaner.(id use masks with a mouse..crazy man))
Secondly, skin pinches and stretches and has pretty defined contours in some areas.... you dont have to define everything, but define the ends of creases and areas of focus.... at the moment its all semi-defined with no areas of greater detail. the left eybrow for instance is really sharp.... but it doesnt fir in cause everything else is more blurry.
If he has a rim light... then make it a hard light... rim lights tend to be harsh lines...
also watch the overall light direction... it can help a lot to keep it more defined. In fact im doing a quick paint-over which ill send to you. have a look and post if you want to... im not very good at explaining in words (though i seem to use so many anyways...)
