    Great imagination and drawing skills!!

IMO your finished pieces lack that impact your awesome sketches have.

For example that roman piece (fantastic concept) - the values are really good but to me it looks a little washed out and muddy colour wise.

    Hope this helps.

    Keep drawing...

awsome sketchbook dude, I remember seeing your monkey girl? at cgtalk.com before, it was quite a while back for a competition wasn't it? forgot what the challenge. Yeah very nice style! Don't you have more of that little boy and money stuff?? I vaguely recall a vehicle of some sort and stuff.. those were wicked.. Oh and reminds me of gorillaz album cover too..

    Thanks for the interest everyone!

I've done a few new bits and wanted to post some more existing stuff too, but i'll reply first...

Yodaah: Cheers! 'Romanes Eunt Domus' is the wrong version... before Brian has to correct it!

shyamshriram: Thanks... I'm still chuffed i got five stars. Now i've just gotta keep it up...

    Icey, neoknocker: Thankyou!

strych9ine, chainsawguy: I still consider myself pretty new to digital painting. I've done tons of concept stuff over the last few years, but not many 'illustrations', which i think pose a whole new set of problems. So i'm hoping the practice i get building up my sketchbook will help get it right. So this step-by-step is just the process for this image and i'm constantly changing my process to find methods that suit me. It's fun but can be a bit of a stress at times. Particularly when i'm trying stuff out on 'live' illustrations.

pushav: cool... i like drawing animals!

poise: I'm hoping ot get more 'Monkey Girl' stuff done when i've got some other work and personal projects out of the way.

    mentler: Cheers!

draw: I've gotta agree with what you're saying. I'm looking at my process and muddy colours seem to creep into a few of my recent images. there's a fine line with limited saturation and 'muddy' colours. Thanks for the feedback!

bumskee: Yup... 'Monkey Girl' was for the 'Machineflesh' challenge. Nearly all the work, except for the final piece, was drawn on the train on the way to work! But it was a great learning experience because it was the first personal stuff i'd done after a couple of years of crazy overtime at Warthog. As i said earlier in this post, more 'Monkey Girl' to come soon-ish...

camilografix: Thanks... it'll be a pleasure. Here ya go:

Here's a bunch of more recent stuff, ending with a picture i did today of POshspice.

First off, here's the original sketches i did for the UK vs. Washington TD. I quit this idea and did the fat gladiator on the phone, but i may pick it up again sopmetime. It was going to be a whole load of 'combatants' waiting in the tunnel to head into a galdiatorial arena. It was even gonna include a couple of nuns with AK47's!

Here's a quick lunchtime piece i did for a 'Draw yourself in a Gorillaz style' thread on the Drawing Board:

And a bunch of ideas and development sketches i've done in the last few weeks for the 'Spectaular' challenge on CGtalk. Most of this is quick stuff done in the hour before i start work in the morning or at lunchtime in the office:

And last (but not least), here's my portrait of Mr. Aly Fell aka Poshspice. I've challenged Aly to a mini-TD to draw a 'Highwaywoman'. I'm not sure what came over me, but i've done it now so i'll have to 'out-girl' one of my favourite 'girl' painters. He's also a good friend so we'll have some fun goading each other for a while... which was kinda why i produced this. Aly owns a 60s hearse, but i know how he secretly loves little bunnies...

I've started a picture for this weeks COW (Big underwater thingy) and i've gotta get some 'Highwaywoman' sketches done... so more coming soon...

Git... what's my right ear doing? And why've I got a funny thumb... and why've you given me a double chin....? Hmmm... I've a cunning plan brewing....

You know, the girl sitting on the front of that type 35 Bugatti type car is looovely...

Have I told you before that I think you are a very talented geezer? Well I'm not going to now either..... you talented geezer

Edit... the bunnies are very cute... They make me think of Benny, the rabbit I had as a little prince-of-darkness. Benny ran away... Dad said he was playing with the grey rabbits in the fields far away; and happilly making new little bunnies. But I knew he was really dead, probably crushed beneath the wheels of a traction engine or a Lambretta. This was my first experience of death... Aaah, happy memories...

    Hey! Cheers for the comments!

os4 la gune, ValerioKientz: Thanks! I'll keep on adding to this thread so keep on looking in!

runelore: Ta! What can i say?? Aly 'POshspice' Fell has some kinda pink bunny obsession! I think the picture could probably do with a lot more bunnies...

Art_Addict: Hi... I work for a games company called Eurocom in Derby. I've been there about ten months (i worked at Warthog and Codemasters before) and now spend most of my time working with Poshspice and Matt Dixon. I even share a lift to work with Posh... and all he talks about is bunnies...

    shyamshriram: Thanks! Love your sketchbook!

neoknocker: Haha... i'm thinking of doing a story with that character. When i've got some spare time... too many personal projects and too little time... *sigh*

    flaptraps:
Cheers! i did that sketch as a different take on 'spectacular'. It was always such a big bravado thing when i was a kid. We always hoped the girls would think it was 'spectacular'!!

meeatu: Thanks. I might post another 'step-by-step' tomorrow. I've nearly finished my entry for this week's COW, and i've saved a few incremental images.

poshspice strikes me as very.. umm.. have you ever seen him walk on the ceiling or suck the blood out of one of those bunnies? He sounds to me like he could have been a member of the addams family.
