Differences in a 8 year old girl and a 23 year old woman.

I'm posting this because every little 8 year old girl I try to sketch, ends up looking like a pretty woman in her 20s. So, whats the differences? I need it especially in the face and head. I'm not looking for comments such as make her have no breasts. I'm mainly talking about the face and shape of the head.

You should probably post an example, but generally an 8 year old girl should be 4 to 5 heads tall, that's probably an exageration, but those are definitely childlike proportions and the eyes should be big with a small nose.....kinda like an anime drawing, only real.

For the face, try more baby fat on the cheeks, and big round eyes. Go easy on the eye lashes, as many grown women use eye makeup to make more of an emphasis on their eyes.

I've never drawn kids, so I wouldn't know, but Loomis says make the head smaller and rounder. Check him out.

well considering a childs bone structure is completely different from a womans it could be worthwhile checking out

The interesting thing about head-to-body size relationships is that at 8 years old, children have an almost adult-sized head but a much smaller body. The features of the head are much smoother & rounder in children. During puberty, the head-to-body size relationships become more adult-like and the features of the head & face become more angular. If you observe those size relationship, you may be able to get a more correct-looking drawing of a child of 8.
