    impressive mech design as usual.
My suggestion is to try different techiques in PS instead of always starting from a light gey midtine and adding highlights and shadow.
Sure, do it as you please, but always keep in my that practicing diffrent ways of making the same thing can help you improve

    keep sharing!

    ciao

TheGnoll - hey, thanks! But the renderings remain as they are for the moment. Most of these could be used for 3D models. All are passed to a friend, and if it's good to go, I start another round of side/front/top views or more details. Again, it's lineart. Any fancier, may as well do the 3D myself. The shading is optional, just a hint at the actual form of the object, and is removable.

Yo Onir, been outta it. Holidays~! heheheh... meeting up with highschool buddies, and boozing and eating with the family. The 200 crash design actually helped a bit. Cranking out the last couple of pics was really easy after that. Output is a little lower now though, been writing a background info to go with the sketches.

the last step by step is a little different. I had a rough base sketch, but kept changing the overall design as it progressed. You'll see layers being added with rough sketching. Happy accidents would happen and if it looked good, i would go with it.

more to come when i get around to uploading the pics.

A nice method is to start your canvas with mid grey, then paint 5 values darker or lighter.

gah... stop posting and observed... and this thread manages to rake up an extra 2000 views without a single comment...

    heheheh

yo kosh~! some of the old crew is posting at spyke's forum (the one sent to ya in an email). we're starting work on the rpg worlds...

    hey farvus!

the 200 (230 now actually... heheh) really helped me loosen up. I'll include a sample in this post. Collaborate on 200 environments and give ourselves a swift kick to the behind?

rendered thumbnails is 1:1... forgot to scale up... heheh.

this actually an online collaboration with an old buddy. He did the original design/sketch, and told a rough description. Spent 15 mins doing a quick sketch and posting it for comments.

Started "inking" the first part. Kept various components on seperate layers cause the objective to have "blueprints" for 3d modelling. Orthos won't be posted here though.

More discussion on the actual design (more brainstorming than actual rendering here). More thumbnails and roughs for approval.

Copy pasted earlier rendering onto a new canvas. Adjusted some stuff, recreated the perspective grids and finished it off.

Hey. Sorry for late reply. I like the mech design. It has really harmonious proportions and feels very functional. Keep doing this kind of stuff.
Most of the time it's lineart with colours so maybe try showing some difference between materials. Like shiny, matt, opaqe, smooth, grainy and so on...there is whole big range of different metals, synthetic materials (different plastics) you could apply to your designs. Maybe even some hi-tech alloys that doesn't exist in normal world.

As for 200 enviroments... yes I'm plan starting some kind of Enviroment Of The Day activity. Also a bit of going into the history of architecture. I had this a lot on my university but my own learning process is concetrated more on seeing 3d shapes rather than learning floorplans and historical dates
