Hey, glad to see massive responses....

Armando: Thanks for the encouragement, I've definitely been looking forward to indepth studies...yea, I intend to hang around this site for years, lol...glad you're getting ideas off me...

Runelore: hey, thanks for dropping by my sketchbook in return....I can't wait to see your figure drawings class stuff posted....

Masterpug: hey, I'm always glad to stop by your sketchbook...we all need help, even professionals....seems as if my pencilwork is stagnanting or something, so that's why I hit the paint, just to take a break from my favorite medium....anyhow, Thanks man, keep posting!

Placeboast: Thanks man, glad to have another companion on my journey....I started getting serious about 2 years ago....thanks for dropping by, update your sb and I'll get back to you....

Talmir: That's an excellent analogy...I have noticed a degeneration of the form of my drawings, so I took your advice to heart with this update, not a complete drawing, but much slower....either way, thanks for dropping by, good advice helps me so much, I don't have much of a community of art where I am....

Shyam: Thanks man, I get the most motivation from replies and c&c....so, come back! and keep your thread updated so I can drool over it...

Mitch: thanks man, don't forget to post in other guy's threads, they really love comments and crits too....

small update, a relatively quick back and partial arm study between classes and dinner....

This is the first time I've had a chance to check your sketchbook in a while. I'm really impressed with a lot of this stuff. This was a surprise. Well done! Nice to see some Loomis studies as well.
I notice you have a tendancy to get stuck on short, choppy strokes especially when you are using a pencil.
Try starting your drawings with broad/basic shapes using some media that puts down a broad, sure strokes.
A few of my faves- Prismacolor gray markers (20% or 30 % are best for layout), graphite sticks ( I prefer the wide ones/ break the full length stick in half and lay in shapes with the side) woodless graphite pencil (held under-hand so you can draw out nice, thick curves).
Good luck and keep it up.

fatkid, nice job on number 58. i think i'll rip you off and look for something like that to draw. was that drawn from life, same as the bus stop guy? those are the best. hopefully you get a rush of excitement doing it. a suggestion i have is to look for out of the ordinary, not straight on portraits. i think they make for more interesting drawings. look at the degas stuff. a lot of his pieces have the model looking away--gives you a chance to have the body language speak, and that is so much more interesting. well, i think so anyway. look at me, i should go draw, now. thanks for stopping by my book.

    howdy guys!

MrCrowpsey: think I just draw that? thanks for dropping by...

Fellah: I think I will keep it up, thanks for stopping by!

    Shinryu: Thanks man!

[jbfilion]: thanks, I guess beauty is good....

morbidhumor: hey man, thanks for the compliment....I'll look into the different mediums to prevent the choppy marks, thanks for the advice!

Antquin: Thanks for stopping by mine...yea, she was drawn from life, same as the bus stop guy...you're right, having ordinary poses makes for a more living drawing, because we can relate to it....guess I'll go sit around in some train stations and classrooms and see what I can draw, thanks man!

bored, slightly depressed sketches, guess I lied about the studies....

hey thanks! ive been drawing for a few years. i started in first grade copying disneyand have been doodling since, but i really picked up drawing junior year when i took an art class in school. i can copy things pretty well but i have the hardest time trying to draw things i think of. like if someone says draw a football player wearing a tutu i can't get the right forms or anything to be in correct relation to each other.

btw your back study is great! a crit i have is to watch the size of your hands,a bit big.

Still loving your stuff. Got a question for you. Do you use fixative on your
sketches? It seems that your drawings are so heavy with the pencil lines
that it would smudge your whole sketchbook. Or do you just draw on individual paper? Thank you very much.

thx for the comments in my sketchbook! my one suggestion to you is to start switching up mediums more...you need to get away from the safety of the pencil...as well as you need to hold your pencil farther from the tip, closer to the eraser...it looks to me like you're trying to control too much at this point.

    keep posting!

    Nother day, nother post....

Haldor: thanks man, I'm working on it between massive assignments....

Pennington: yea, drawing non ref'd figures take so much practice, hence the reason there's so much on this website...the more you copy the better you get at non ref, but don't forget to draw from life, you'll learn the most about light and poses that way....thanks for the crit, i hadn't really realized how big the hands tended to get

ZebzFree: Hey thanks man, I appreciate the support, damn do I need it nowadays, so much work and so little to help me...btw, nother study today....value and anatomy, woo!

Placeboast: Thanks man, I'll keep posting in yours if you keep posting in mine, deal? anyhow, I get tons of smudging in my sketchbook, the really dark stuff I tear out and put into a portfolio to keep them nice, but otherwise its a mess.....lol, come back soon!

Sirgreensock: nother value study today, glad you liked the last one. thanks for dropping by!

Apollonuevo: Thanks for the crit, i'll start implementing and experimenting with that distance thing...i'll definitely start to try different mediums soon, its just that i come back to sketching with a pencil after getting done with homework in some weird medium.....anyhow, thanks man!

late night quick study while watching "The Terminal" with tom hanks, a good flick.....just a chest....

Great study, bro. Just remember to wrap the values around the form and keep taking note of the basic principles of the value scale, like on a sphere. Some areas of this one are really poppin' quite well. I know you can do better tho! Gimmie s'more!

And thanks again for the stars! It really lit a fire under my arse and made me feel like I'm somewhat good and what I do. I appreciate it more than you know!

Sorry it's been so long..... The library comps wren't loading things again.... Either way--congrats on the third page, and on the rating. Both show that you are moving right along. You should be bored and depressed more often. You produce good stuff that way. The chest you did while watching The Terminal (it is a good flick) is good. I think a few of the highlights might be a little, hmmmm, stark?, maybe?, I can't think of a word for it. The back/arm is the same way. The light is just a little too bold? contrasting? err... maybe it's just too light. Maybe try blending it?
