I'm surprised at how many guitarists are on this site, I thought I was the only one who does both. You have a good general knowledge of heads. For specific features you should do some work on noses, right now they're a little too long and too simplistic. I've got the same problem, now I'm paranoid.

Nice drawings, completely different to everyone else. I like the pencil and ink combo's, you should practise some more on that. And i think you should just practise drawing things on their own, like eyes, ears, mouth, noses, and your head anatomy will be pretty much perfect

Great style, and Im really loving the pencil + ink work that you've done. Im also digging your rendering as well.

I'd like to see you try out some dynamic action poses instead of sticking iwth static standing positions like you have for most of your work.

    Looking forward to updates

Oi:Its been said Im sure but Welcome

Hey hey, I like the ink with pencil, And your stuff is quite cool, Im verging on delerious from little sleep, But From the looks of it you may enjoy using Toned paper and colored pencils, It gives you a pop and does not leave the risk of getting everything stained red pink blue or... well ink colors, Later boss.

Snowsfall - Thanks, yeah, I got accepted to Sva this past summer but wasn't able to enroll yet cause I couldn't come up with the dough. I'm hoping that I can get a portfolio scholarship to help out though.

OleOlsen - There ARE a ton of great artists on this site. I'm continually amazed and inspired by everyone.

Black:neon:Chaos - I'm workin on it! I'll have some lively stuff up in a day or two!

Remember, the septum is the lowest part of the nose, also keeping track of the nasal bone is useful because that part of the nose is the most boxlike. Yeah, that pencil and ink does look good. My personal issue with the newest drawing is that girl looks a lot like an Olsen twin, and I hate the Olsen twins.

Nice pencil studies on that last one. I'm thinking that your pencil rendering needs some work. I just got a book that looks like a good starting point.

"PENCIL DRAWING TECHNIQUES" By David Lewis
From what I've looked at it looks like a good book for beginner to intermediate levels. It covers materials, warmup exercises, and technique. Theres a nice little bit on the back on color pencils.

    Post more.

I think the sketches here I really enjoy the most are the ones that introduce color as a fill and a background value to balance out the figure(s). If there was a sketch that I think really needed this element to help introduce the emotion and lock in some visual design it's http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...nightfight.jpg

But stuff like the multi figures in the sketch your icon is from, that's great. It really gives this interesting sense of composition and almost like a weird offbeat storytelling device.

Great start to an awesome sketchbook! I'm particularly digging the rendering of that tree. Some of the characters seem a tad too skinny, though. Beef em up a bit!!

you've done some really nice pieces. I also agree with you that drawing in pen helps, I was always taught it helps cut down on mistakes as you can't rub out and it makes you think more bout each line. keep it up

Love the ink, nice hues How are you applying it with brushes or pens, both maybe. I'm always interested in methods of applying ink so if you want to share some of the hows and with what. I would love to read it.

That last post the guys arm is bent to far as it stretches out and looks painful. The "short hand" on the arm isn't working well. Try to define some of the muscles or plains of the arm, it may help give it more power.

Your hatchy method of shading is really appealing. I like it very much!

    Regarding this...

Have you ever tried just starting out a sketch soley with the intention of color, rather than having a pencil work or whatever that you apply color to later? It might help you out as far as messing around and finding a color method that you are comfortable with. The ink application is subtle and nice in many of these, but have you tried messing around with other color media that are perhaps more akin to what you've been doing with the pencil work and such?

If anything, it might just be a fun thing to play with.
