I'm surprised at how many guitarists are on this site, I thought I was the only one who does both. You have a good general knowledge of heads. For specific features you should do some work on noses, right now they're a little too long and too simplistic. I've got the same problem, now I'm paranoid.
Nice drawings, completely different to everyone else. I like the pencil and ink combo's, you should practise some more on that. And i think you should just practise drawing things on their own, like eyes, ears, mouth, noses, and your head anatomy will be pretty much perfect

Great style, and Im really loving the pencil + ink work that you've done. Im also digging your rendering as well.
I'd like to see you try out some dynamic action poses instead of sticking iwth static standing positions like you have for most of your work.
Looking forward to updates![]()
Hey hey, I like the ink with pencil, And your stuff is quite cool, Im verging on delerious from little sleep, But From the looks of it you may enjoy using Toned paper and colored pencils, It gives you a pop and does not leave the risk of getting everything stained red pink blue or... well ink colors, Later boss.

Nice sketches so far... Some of your necks look a little off anatomy wise but i like your style alot, keep goin![]()
Nice pencil studies on that last one. I'm thinking that your pencil rendering needs some work. I just got a book that looks like a good starting point.
"PENCIL DRAWING TECHNIQUES" By David Lewis
From what I've looked at it looks like a good book for beginner to intermediate levels. It covers materials, warmup exercises, and technique. Theres a nice little bit on the back on color pencils.
Post more.

I think the sketches here I really enjoy the most are the ones that introduce color as a fill and a background value to balance out the figure(s). If there was a sketch that I think really needed this element to help introduce the emotion and lock in some visual design it's http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...nightfight.jpg
But stuff like the multi figures in the sketch your icon is from, that's great. It really gives this interesting sense of composition and almost like a weird offbeat storytelling device.
Great start to an awesome sketchbook! I'm particularly digging the rendering of that tree. Some of the characters seem a tad too skinny, though. Beef em up a bit!!

Your hatchy method of shading is really appealing. I like it very much!
Regarding this...
Have you ever tried just starting out a sketch soley with the intention of color, rather than having a pencil work or whatever that you apply color to later? It might help you out as far as messing around and finding a color method that you are comfortable with. The ink application is subtle and nice in many of these, but have you tried messing around with other color media that are perhaps more akin to what you've been doing with the pencil work and such?Originally Posted by Danomight
If anything, it might just be a fun thing to play with.

cool sketchs mang.. dont got much crits![]()
you've done some really nice pieces. I also agree with you that drawing in pen helps, I was always taught it helps cut down on mistakes as you can't rub out and it makes you think more bout each line. keep it up

Love the ink, nice hues How are you applying it with brushes or pens, both maybe. I'm always interested in methods of applying ink so if you want to share some of the hows and with what. I would love to read it.
That last post the guys arm is bent to far as it stretches out and looks painful. The "short hand" on the arm isn't working well. Try to define some of the muscles or plains of the arm, it may help give it more power.

Nice work on the studies. I would like to see some of just lips, Thye seem to be your weekest area of facial anatomy. But I can't view a lot of your last post a lot of it is gray an just wont load properly for some reason. The arm studies are working out well, so are the legs.
Keep posting.

Hey there. You've got a really great sense of style. I wish I could have
your skill. The only thing that really bothered me was the first drawing:
I think the your proportions in that one are really f***** up. Either the
heads are too large or the tree is a miniature one. I hope I don't have to put a smilie here to point out that that was a joke. You can be very proud of yourself.
Totally digging the details and helmet on the guy in the latest sketch. The jacket has this nice crisp rendering to it, jus feels good.
Good neck studies, I'm having trouble with necks myself lately.
The thing that stands out the weakest and loudest in your faces is the nose. Alot of them feel like they're being rendered at a different angle or view than the face is at, that or they jus don't have a very good sense of volume. I had/have this problem myself because I had gotten accustomed to drawing the face only at certain angles. I got over it by watching out for certain points on the nose (from most eye level views they can form an M-like shape). Using primitives helps alot too. Other than that though, I guess draw alot of noses![]()

hey love the design of the jacket on that last one. the helmet I'm not to crazy about, it looks too static. Also the head seems to be a little big in relation to the body.

I also really love the jacket on this last one. The texture of the fabric is very convincing! His shoulders seem a little narrow, but I can't tell if that is just emhasized by the extra bulk of the helmet.

i've just started drawing again after a few years so please excuse my ignorance but, who is Hogarth?
Looks like a good study. One thing though is that I would try to use at least three pencils on it. I tend to use a 4h, HB, 2B and a Prismacolor black colorpencil for full renderings. You can also try to use a 6 or 8B instead of the Prismacolor. One waring the Prismacolor is permanent so whatever you mark is going to stay.
