if your born on a plane-

ok, hypothetical question, if you are born on a plane, say over the pacific ocean, do you have an international passport that you can use to get into the countries neighboring that ocean ?
or do you retain your the native passport of your parents..

or if you were born in the pacific ocean on a oil rig.?

Gawd, what a dumb question. Clearly you are a citizen of the Atlantis just like Aquaman, sheeet.

Ahmm, but seriously; I think the plane is technically the territory of the nation it is from, say like a embassy (no a sky embassy!). But I don't think that matters because it's all based on the parents citizenship no? I mean if a family goes to Canada on vacation from North Dakota and their baby is born during the trip is the kid a Canuck?

Pregnant women aren't allowed on planes... but if it were a boat (sea-born) or an oil rig I'm sure it would be the first country the child was registered in or based on parent citizenship. I guess it depends on the country and wether they allow duel citizenship.

An old dope-runner friend of mine in the 60s was born in Canada to parents who were US citizens working there. She had dual citizenship automatically until she was of age (21 then) when she could make (or not) a decision one way or the other. I don't know if the laws are still that way...

    Since when is that ???

My father was born on a plane. The pilot became his godfather and he got his parents citizenship but was declared born in the city of destination. There was also a mandatory millitary service in order to keep the french citizenship I think...
Citizenship depends what country you are from, which one(s) your parents have and what have been agreed between these countries. It also depends if you're male or female in some instances.
I think Marie Pierce has 3 citizenships : French (from her mother), US (from her father or vice versa) and Canadian (from being born there). Pretty wild !
I got dual citizenship BUT if I wanted to be naturalized as an american, I would LOSE my current citizenships.

In any case, I'd hate to be a flight attendent having a poor lady in labor during a trans-atlantic flight. eek !

I think for safety reasons, women in advanced stages of pregnancy are not advised to travel via air. I'm not quite sure where I read it before but that's something quite recent (as recent as 20 years ago) so there are actually lesser people born on planes in recent years.

What if you're born right on the line between to countries. Would you have duel citizenship?

I'm guessing the pilot would be the final authority on that one. I mean...that dotted line must be fuckin' HUGE...how could he miss something that big painted across the countryside?

Pregnant women shouldn't be allowed on boats either, all that afterbirth leaking out just pollutes the oceans.
Strange coincidence that every man whose skull has been opened had a brain.
