    Scooters!

So I am buying a scooter and need some advice.
Are there any people here who own/have owned one?

None taken. I'm perfectly aware of how un-cool I am.

I also listen to Irish folk music and show tunes. (Honestly. Any Sondheim fans out there?)

I'm gonna lay it out right here: I'm tired of the Vespa thing. Sure they get 75-100 miles/gallon, but I think they look goofy. A friend of mine just got one and whenever I see it I surpress a giggle.

Thought Harleys were the thing to have in the US, however nout wrong with scooters.

What cc will you be restricted to by your licencing system?

Also for those that think scooters are slow they are drag raced over here. The top one's are running just under 10 second 1/4 mile's at 100mph. From around 200cc, no turbo's, no nitrous but lots of tuning obviously.

Any European people into bikes should be able to give you advice, like me. What makes/dealers are available to you locally and then I can suggest the best one to get.

With gas already past $3 here, that Vespa is looking pretty darn sweet right about now. I like the red one best.

I don't understand people who think scooters are 'uncool'. I don't make fun of you people for driving SUV's (except when I see one at the gas station) or beater cars! You probably also make fun of the Smart cars too...

...except the SMART car, and the scooter, are the right choice when you are bein' economical. Stop making choices with your dick (oh, what are the girls going to think of me?).

    _END RANT

I see alot of scooters in Toronto but as I don't have my license...I haven't thought about buying one. The only downside is where do you put your stuff?

Buy a Honda Ruckus, name it Lord Hummungus.

Seriously, that's what I'd buy if I didn't need a minivan and I didn't have a 70 mile commute. Of course, a bicycle does everything a scooter can, without noise or pollution or fuel costs, so common sense would prevail in my case.

why not just get a motorcycle?

I don't drive period, but what bugs me about scooters is that you always look like you're driving into, out of, or during a teaparty.
