Welcome I like the first and the last the most. you have a strong sense of blacks whites and grays, post some color works when you do them. Very cool

Wow im impressed. Knights with guns and no generic fantasy dragons or wizards anywhere. A lot of your characters are pretty good too. Especially that knight with the gun in the effeminate pose. I wanna know what his deal is.

Unless there are people or companies knocking at our doors we're all still striving to improve, and even then we still are. Nevertheless you have a good sense of mood throughout your work which is a good intangible quality that you can't really study without biting the fuck out of someone else's work. By the way did you use the diagram group weapons encyclopedia for references to get ideas and references for some of your weapons, because it looks so. Keep up the hard work.

hi, thanks very much for your comments.

Yeah, i do like to bend anatomy a bit, but most of it is still just drawing from my head so there are obviuose inconcistancies. The only referenced figure in all of the sketches is the guy riding the horse and firing wheelock pistol, other than that, i just love drawing the stuff, so i can remember it easily.

Thats not to say i never use reference for guns and armor, i just happen to use historical books and things like that rather thn diffinative reference guides.

Dragons are way too exaggerated and embelished. I find that the common man wielding a sword or riding a horse much more interesting.

The guy with the girly pose is supposed to be some sort of nobleman, or maybe elite palace guard from the rennaissance. He has the best arms and euipement money can buy. I love the image of soldiers having a one-shot pistol and then closing for swordplay. Thats pretty much what you get with the Rennaissance, guns, heavy-armor and style.

Heres some more stuff that i had posted a LONG while ago...(well a few weeks anyway...

Did this one for poops and giggles...

I'm currently struggling with sticking with markers and ink, or doing rendered sketches and then bringing them into photoshop. I like elements of both so i'm not sure what to do .

well, more stuff on the way...

Good job of coming up with some knights that aren't totally cliche looking.. Have you ever seen that sucky movie "Brotherhood of the Wolf", it had some cool designs, this kinda reminded me of it(design wise, not stupid plot wise). I also like the idea of one shot guns, that way it's easier to get into hand to hand combat and not have to give the warriors super powers in order to dodge the bullets and what not.

    Talking New stuff

Heres some way more current, stuff. This is for a miniature game that i am writing and doing the artwork for. The game is a tabletop miniature game which takes place during the crusades but in this universe, the Rapture happens and the Antichrist appears. The Christian and Muslim forces unite to face a common foe while the army of the Faithful gathers to repel the antichrist's horde. I have much of the rule system written, and for my senior project, i am going to ask if i could do the spot illustrations for it.

    Knights portrait.

A European knight with Frankish crop-cut haircut.

    Christian footman.

    A fallen Angel

    Footmen fighting zombies. Yay!

Soon i will post the color ones of the demon and the cristion foot soldier.

Yeah, usually my poses have more dynamic action, but then i can go overboard and they get a little rubbery. I think i was trying to go a for a more realistic pose for the soldiers with some relativley static poses. Thanks alot for your comment

Heres the color ones, a bit off though, the scan was bad maybe...

I matte acryilic mediumed the sketch to a matte board, then did two layers on top to seal it and smoothed it with a ruler, then i painted with guache and acrylics and used microns for the line work.

A knight from the 3rd crusades advancing under arrow fire. The knight should be right handed as all warriors of that time period. Bugger me.

I think it depends on what you want to do and what your using. To get the detail work, you would need a finer tip, and clearly map out where you would lay in your darks. Fine Cross-hatching would be your best bet because of the suggested gradiant that can be formed. Obviously, there are alot of grays in my drawings and pencil drawings in general, so you would need to crosshatch and suggest these with your blacks. Contour lines could be helpful as well i think, as long as they follow the figure.

Print one of your drawings out and experiment on the copy with either microns or pen-an-ink. Hope i was helpful.
