Very nice rendering on those shoes - are you using pen in these drawings? I like how glossy they look.

The child is well done too - it's hard to render a child's face without making them look old, but you pulled it off! I love the grinning man, he is so full of character and gentle spirit.

The life drawing gal's waist looks a little too stretched, her ribcage too far from her hips at the angle you drew her. Of course, she might have looked just like that - it's hard to crit people drawn from life unless you have ref right beside them. Her foot though, is not correct. Study my friend. Feet and hands.

The mafia-heavy wiping blood from his hands is very well done. Ref? Or no ref? He looks scary. I don't want to meet him in a dark alley.

ChOW: her face is very expressive and nasty looking. I like her twirling the dargonteeth necklace: give the attitude of 'yeah, dragons, whatever...prey to me!' Her legs aren't quite working though, they look boneless. They are also too small for the rest of her body. Hands are looking better, but they still have bumps and bends where they shouldn't...or you can brush me off and say: 'hey, she's a dragon hunter! She's got scars, okay? Her hands got banged up a time or two!'

All in all, very nice update Sveta - you should do it more often.

    sve,,,,

I have never posted here in yer sb,,,, (as far as I remember,,hehe)

Wanted to do so and say some things.... I looked through all the drawings but I did not read the posts that good,, so forgive me if I say the same old things you have heard before

First off, I would like to compliment you on the way that you draw. There is a noticable lack of egocentrism in the works ( I just mean that you do not erase a lot or draw lightly for fear of making mistakes) The lines are very expressive and alive. Strong. Your figure drawings are surprisingly complex for how simple they look, congratulations, because I think that is very hard to do.

I love the cat, and also the drawings of children in assorted poses. These are amongst my favs for the reasons stated above, strength of line, confidence and a lack of ego, it really allows the subjects you depict to shine on their own.

I am also impressed by the variety you generate, from the reffed works to the imaginative, charcoal, ink and graphite. Everything kind of stands on it's own.

Sweet chow, by the way!!! The face sucks me in like I am really looking at a real person. You give life to the people.

I could say a lot more, but I will save it for now,, I don't want my first post to be big and scary..

Keep it up and all that. I'll keep an eye out for more in the future.

    Hello there Sve!

Just wanted to say that there are some really good stuff here. No crits at the moment cause I've been sick the whole week and my brain feels like it's wrapped inside foil. Will surely be coming back later.

Wanted to put a new photo, but changed my mind .

I have a strong urge to go male again. Need some help from you in this though . Two ways street, you know .

Hello, madplanet , 6-7 more still lifes and you will be hooked for your life. Thank you so much, you always make me smile. No. the ref to Lovers was some artistic photo from Internet, so it was fleshy people, not marble.

Diego , come on, it's funny hearing this from you, that was on sketchling thread the whole time. Thank you so much for comment, i agree about shadow. shoud've tried to play with it in Photoshop.
hey, bumskee, . How I got here, in fine art section. Very simple, actually. The first time I took all my 5 drawings and tried to impress folks in Life Painting thread. Well, naturally was kicked out in a hour or so, because this post of mine had nothing to do with painting. And I actually really wanted to hear from two very respected by me artists there. Well, it didn't happen, actually it's still not happening, but after all this I set up my camp near my idols with hope they will be passing by and might see me and love me and after that everything will be perfect . Thank you so much for coming and telling me all these nice things. But I'm not an angel. I have to saw off my horns every morning to look nice.

Haldor, . you are holding a carrot in front of me for way too long. , thank you for stopping by. Always glad to see you.

Hey, Alday.J . Thank you so much, I'm sure glad you like the Lovers, they looked a bit heavy done though.

Hello, lovely Teigrob. I will continue calling you like that, because you are lovely. Yes, it a pen, 0.5mm.and a little treatment with levels in Photoshop. Thank you for all kind words, but as always my favorite is when you are telling my mistakes. you are right, her waist was lower. i just could not squeeze it there.. About the hunter, of course, you are right, and the reason she is ugly built because all her parts are separate on paper, and as the whole person she exists only on monitor.

Hello, codakromek , I love your book, I enjoyed it very much.
Thank you for very thoughtful comment, I'm not sure you aren't mistaking me for someone else. And, btw, I love big and scary posts, I'm learning so much about their author from them . Thanks, it was very nice of you.

GunTrouver , thank you for returning all my favorite drawings of yours. I really appreciate it. I'm very glad you like that bastard.

Hello, JaneM , thank you so much. You are too kind, really. I think charcoal is the easiest to manage. It doesn't have its own will at all .

Hey, Placeboast . Sorry to hear that you are so sick. Get well, get well soon. Really feel for you.Thank you so much for stopping be and giving me my thoughts.

Now update. mix of life drawings, copies from old masters, study of emotions, hand and legs. and some doodles.
Let the nightmare begin, hopefully it will be over sooner.

The old gut at the top is by far my favorite of all that you've done. Yes, he's sad and all that, but you nailed it on this one, You captured this poor guy's soul, I think. Wonderful. This guy is straight out of A Christmas Carol, in fact, a lot of these recent sketches have a Charle Dickens flair to them and they would lend themselves very well as illustrations to Great Expectations or something like that. I notice some anatomy problems in the legs and feet studies, but you have definitely shown major improvements in those faces (even if some are older ones).

    Hey Sve,

Your figure drawings still look haphazard in terms of shading, and line quality. Remember what I said about looking for lines and angles of your subject especially when it concerns the contour? Look for a line, determine its angle, and measurement, then put all that information on your paper with your line. For this to work, you really have to force yourself to do so. Take your time.

Your fig drawing actually reminds me a bit of Sargent's drawings ( http://www.jssgallery.org/Thumbnails...tings1919b.htm ). His drawings are loose but not too loose( i.e. Nicolaides loose), more like a compromise between tight and loose. BUT observe how he is sure of his shapes, and confident with his line. If you take the time to understand the shape and form of whatever it is you're working from, you'll see some improvement.

    gluck!

great update Sve...CA.org has been really quirky lately, so it was nice to finally get on again today and see your lovelty update. I am especially fond of the last head studies. Very cool. I feel so intimidated to post because you leave such elaborate, poetic replies, and I can only communicate with 4 phrases "Look's great ", or "Keep it up"-

Great update though - Have you ever tried traditional paints, oil or gouache (or anything?) - I think it may be worth you looking into. Remember...you have plenty of friends here to help you along the way!

    Hello Sveta!
So these are great faces I love their expressions, the lady in a hat looks sad and kind of scared. Did Fellas drawings do that? His mind tend to scare me sometimes.
By the way, I heard you made him draw flowers? Long time ago, I tried to make him draw something cute but... I think he drawed a man slugging something cute or something like that...

AHH back to your drawings. The values in black and white are awsome I love the way you put shadows in the sitting one, and the pose with him looking away.
Hmm I wanna draw life studies now. It was long ago now...
So! looking forward for more. and . . . oh yes, to spoil the surprise. Im almost done with a self portrait.
    Have a nice one!
    Cheers!

Lovely! I particularily like how you really capture children. And your studies of feet and hands are great! The toes on the foot though still look a bit rubbery. The hand is wonderful - the fingers are beautifully articulated. Keep studying!

    Thumbs up

    Hello again
Good face expressions, especially no.6 from post #191 and I like the sitting guy from ur last post.
What I noticed is, that sometimes the arm joint (don't know if that's the right translation)of some figures looks a bit unusual.
    Have a nice day; CU!

Nice pics, Sveta. I probably told you once that I dig your drawings for their poetic and sensitive feeling ? If not, it's done ! Hey, next time, show us some colored pieces if you want ! I'm very curious to look at it.

sve you have such an assured look to your work. Seems like you can place the lines you want when you draw. I like all of your work. especialy the jass series of sketches. The SPs troughout are nice and gives a nice sence of skill when compared to the photo of you. Looking forward to your TDome entry. Can't wait to see what you got.

Hey, madplanet . Thank you for nice comments, but if you see anatomical flaws don't be shy to say them to me right away. I'm waiting for this kind of comments.

Hello, mentler . How many bones you've got? Or you are so generous with somebody else's bones , Thank you so much, you are too kind.

Hey, patdzon . I'm really happy every time when you are on my thread, you are my first teacher. You and Teigrob are my most informative commentators. Oh, and Jens, too. Oh, and shyamshriram. Yes, very true, I need to look for relationship between shapes and lines. And I really want to, but I'm so desperate in a class, like a very young puppy on his first hunt. The link is awesome, thank you so much for it, it's a pleasure and a school for me.

Hello, loomer, . You came! You are intimidated by me ! You are fond of something you saw ! Oh, too much for my poor heart. Yes, I already bought a great easel.,oil paints and ordered wacom ( didn't receive it yet) . I need someone to punch me real good to start. Too new for me .

Hey, B-man! . Really like you portrait: colors and expression of your face. Will come back to look again and again. Funny story about Fellah, but he was teasing you, Fellah has layers, like an onion. And of course, I didn't make him to do anything. He is his own man. Thank you so much for coming and saying this.

Hello, sweet Teigrob! , thank you so much. Always, when you are on my thread, actually everywhere I feel like a fresh breeze brushes me, so nice impression of you on the forum. I keep drawing the hands and feet, not much as I should though.

Hey, marioucci , Thank you so much. Goya? Come on! Poor genius is fidgeting in his grave. Would appreciate the link to German expressionists though .

Hey, GunTrouver . Thank you so much, you are right. It's painful for me to see how I screwed up the joint in the sitting boy. But nothing to do, it's a pen.

Hey, Autarkis . Thanks, I'm glad and smiling.

Hey, Alday.J , Thank you so much, I did a colored drawing just for you in this update, out of my respect to you.

Hello, shyamshriram , Thank you so much for coming and for you art, I did some copies of your studies, hope you don't mind. Yours are 1000000 times better.

Hello, Flaskpost . thanks a lot, so nice of you.

Hello, timpaatkins . Thanks, I kind of like this face too. All ref., btw. don't want to confuse anyone about my skills.

Yay, yet another "Happy Birthday" to grant.
    Love doing that.
You are right, you can't find deepness on the bottom of a vine glass, but in my opinion; Van Gough's, Lautrec's and others art would not have been the same, had they not have the habbit of drnking "stuff" once in a while. And if Kandinsky and Miro had been able to afford enough food to fight haluzinations (from starvation), they might not have come up with some "interesting" ideas in their youth.

Oh, and your pictures are awesome, great linecontroll.

    Cheers

    sve, what a beautiful sketchbook
I really like how you sketch, gestural and precise at the same time. Energetic and loose, and yet precise. Its the style of sketching that I like the most. I like your figure studies very much. There's a lot of life in what you do.

    Waiting to see more!

Hello Sveta! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving...I certainly did, lazing about my parent's place... Wonderful ink work. I really like the gal with her back to the viewer - the ink starts doing some really lovely stuff there...Interesting girl with the flyaway scarf! Makes me wonder why she's jumping like that...and looking so disinterested in spite of herself. I'll be posting tonight...see you...

    Hello, dear friends.

Hey, blacky, thank you for saying this, very nice of you . So you think, it's impossible to dig out wonderful ideas and images stored in ones memory and mind without additional stimulator? Well, they are there, you just need to remember them and have enough skills to express them. I really don't know the answer. Human mind is a black box, nobody knows exactly how it works. So I think you might be right. But I value a human life more than art, so I think about irreversible changes in human brains when I think about experiments with all kind of narcotic substances. You might get interesting images once and brain damage for the rest of your life. I think it's irresponsible and not worthy. I think you need to search for other ways to extract the sweet nectar stored in your soul. Sorry, that's what I always thought about this.

Hey, bRØk3n_sPiRiT, Thank you, unbelievably nice comment . You know I really value all this in other artist work and I do have those qualities in life. I just don/t see it in my drawings. See lines, don't see any emotion at all. Cold and empty drawings, like cold and empty refrigerator. Thank you anyway.

Hello,. very likable bumskee . Thank you so much. I was very bored sometimes in school, so I was always drawing on any available paper with pen of course, so I used it a lot. Dude with flashing eyes is very famous actually, , I'm smiling how nicely Ii distorted him . Probably his own mother wouldn't recognise him .

Hello, tensai . thank you for coming back and giving your thoughts to me. I enjoyed your book a lot. Hope to see more Japanese brush paintings from you.

Sunny Teigrob hello, always joy to see you. Thanksgiving, oh, it was very strange one. I was at friends house and got sick, fever and chills. Good thing, nothing is permanent. The girl with scarf could be professional . those kind of people do their things with dead expressions on their faces . Did you see any tango competitions? their faces are something . dead serious or eerie smiling . Thank you very much, for nice words, be strict to my mistakes, though.
