    Final update

I'm going to give a sketchbook another go. If past performance is anything to go by, it probably won't get past three or four updates but you never know...third time lucky!

Basically, this'll just be a dumping ground for speedpaints - some you might have seen before, either here or on other forums, but there will hopefully be the odd new thing, too.

    Comments always welcome.

And to make a significantly less gay post here, you've got amazing talent my friend. Love your work.

Alright that was still pretty gay.

I couldn't agree more. This first one has a great feel to it, wonderful atmosphere. I have a thing for old cemeteries, so it appeals to me.

man.... i like the first one... but the pinkish red doesn't quite do it for me as much as a blood red would, good anyway, of course, I'd love to see more.

    Awright Dickface.

Basically this is the most-likely-to-get-five-stars winner for today.

The first one is beautiful. Nice to see you branching away from your usual chromatic schemes. Though I must say (cause it makes me feel better when I can crit the better artists hehe) that the central patch of reddish warmth is slightly confusing to the eye.

Thanks to all for the comments - I'm taking notes!

strych9ine - Don't fight it, brother. You know all your posts come across a pretty gay. Thanks, man.

robinchyo - Cheers. I've had quite a few assignments for Dragon recently. Doing the cover for issue 335 was scary!

Yiako - Thankyou. It's Photoshop all the way.

Robolus - That's a huge compliment; I'm a big fan of your sketchbook.

Mr.Blonde - You could be right. I have a problem with reds - I never seem to get quite the hue I'm after. Need to work on that.

This morning's warmup - just under the hour, taken loosely from ref - and a couple of old 'uns to bulk things up a bit.

Great work Matt -please keep them cominig.

I like the way you handled the foliage in the fairy bride and the graveyard one in your first post. You have a deft touch.

    Cheers,

    Dom

Im with Strych on this one, i love you!

I also love your work. It amazes me how you put every stroke of your brush to good use. Espescially the one with the battling ships. They arent overly rendered at all, but still its so full of vibrant life. You must tell me your secret someday. As for your last post, i really like the b&w lady. Its full of character, and it doesnt strike me as "dixonesque" at all. (Not that dixonesque is a bad thing, rather the contrary, but its cool to see something that i cant tell right away that you did..) One minor "crit" tho, there are some lines on top of her forehead that makes it look like she's wearing a headband. And with the tall hair and all it gives off a 80's rockstar look. Kinda disturbing, like a baroque katarina and the waves-clash..

    Cheers!

Thanks for the nice welcome. You're right about the 'headband', Slash - ow!

Just one today. Again, it's taken loosely from ref ( haven't done much practise from ref in ages ). 90 minutes.

'Ere... aren't you meant to be somewhere else guvn'r...? Lovely stuff... Personally I prefer tuna mayo, but I'm like that....

One crit... the fluffy girl with the flowers... the shoulders are quite broad... However, the elegant sneering lady with the cigarette, really makes me want to see more linework from you!
