Thanks for the comment on my sketchbook!
The color work in the illustrations is great! The added red underlighting really helps the last portrait you did. Plus the life drawings are fun, especially of the guy sketching in class lol

that last piece looks great, I'd say use some harder brushes, or more solid colors to bring more realism into it. I mean it looks good I just think if it looked less blurry and more vivid it would pop more. Keep at it though, theres nothing really wrong with what youre doing because you're still workin at it, so just keep on doing what youre doin and I'm sure you'll figure it all out.

That last dude is scary. It's a good painting but I don't wanna look at it

These guys, on the other hand, are pretty cute: http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...1&d=1176325504

The color stuff is looking good but it doesn't really jump out at me as much as your rendered pencilwork. Maybe it needs a little more contrast?

Hey guys, thanks for all of the comments. I don't have the time to reply to them all right now but I promise I will within the week. I have sketches and stuff to update with (tho not a lot and most of my work stuff I can't show) but the powers that be released some of my art to our website recently. The first two are quite a few months old. I think I did them around March/April. The last one, Ebon Gate, I did last week. I've got some other stuff that I can't post just yet but will be posting soon, I'm sure. I'm not sure if I'm really getting better at this. I have a process I follow as a safety net but I haven't really experimented the way I should or need to.

That said I'm hoping to ramp up my personal work a bit more by opening a sketch blog that people can check out. Then I might have more accountability in regards to continually updating and just working on my art even more. I've slowed down with it since I've started working for a game company because I do this sort of stuff all day. But I don't really just draw all day, I do lots of other stuff too (basic modeling, texture maps, etc.). I'd like to get back into drawing and painting more regularly. So I guess I'm putting that out there hoping you guys will kick my butt into updating and working on stuff more often on my own rather then being tired, going home and playing video games. Heh. So look for another update with sketches and hopefully a link to my revamped website and sketch blog by the start of next week. For now I'm out. I'll get to those comments in the next couple days tho. Thanks again for looking and encouraging. And of course the critz. Cheers!

    hey!
nice work as usual dood, i enjoy the colors n the concepts...wish i could reach that "finished" level.Figures are a bit stiff, and you anatomy seems to miss some "curves that make the body look more "alive".Check out Rebecca Kimmel's work to know what i'm talking about.

    keep sharing!

(hope ya don't mind if i added you to my msn c list )

    ciao!

    Zebz!!! Welcome home!

The contrast problem I talked about before is completely gone in your new update. Maybe it's easier in in digital, but great job nonetheless. You're really making the colors and atmosphere work.

The dude at the cauldron is caroony in a good very expressive way. The guy with the green light, on the other hand, looks a bit stiff. You've compensated somewhat by giving him delicious eye candy for clothing, but the figure underneath looks unnatural, doesn't move right. However the picture as a whole is awesome in spite of this. The lighting, the texture on the stone, the moon, the aforementioned clothing, it all works together really well.

Cool, it's been a while since I've been in here. The stuff you're doing at work now looks really solid, I can tell you're having some fun at it. I think starting a blog is a great idea, starting my sketchblog has been great motivation to keep sketching all the time.
Not much to say that your stuff is looking great, hope the job is as much fun as it looks!

Looks great man, hope all is well with ya! Definitely improved a lot since the last update too, love the use of texture in the last one. Though yeah, like you said, you could definitely use more experimentation to freshen it up more.

Long time since I've been around. You seem to have been doing some really great work this last while... things with a bit of polish. Somehow I like the face post when the red glow was a bit more subtle...What do I know though. I need to get some real pieces together myself.

I'll check it out more often.

wrtn msgs N xbox r such big pain... wow u got a lot of games man ... my tv isn't HD ... so if i sit down and try to play without my bifocals on i get a headache and my arthritis starts acting up. my ear starts twitching and my right eye starts to bleed. just kidding about all the melodious maladies EXCEPT for the bum vision part. I guess an HDTV makes a huge difference.

Actually, getting caught up on my scanning was one of my chores yesterday. Maybe I'll post some of it today.

Thanks for all the comments guys. I've been really horrible about updating my sketchbook. Mostly because the work feels outdated to me now and a lot of the earlier links aren't reaching the images anymore. Excuses, excuses. I do thank the couple of you who did check this sketchbook out from time to time to see if I was still breathing. I think I'm going to let this one die and just start another one with newer work. I've just not been disciplined enough to post. I did start a blog so I guess I can toss up a few images that I'd dropped on there. My buddy Sketcheth has been making me feel like I should probably start posting on CA.org again so perhaps in the next month or so I'll make a come back. Heh.Till then enjoy the studies and doodles and I'll be sure to drop a line in here when I create the new sketchbook thread. You can always just check my blog... which I haven't been amazing at updating either. lol Thanks again.
