Aun Ole05 - air fortress concept

Just thought Id post my first new piece here on the forums.

any feedback is extremely welcome... for starters, I can myself say that theres some heavy lighting mistakes... as I got a little confused halfway through, though I suppose Ill get better at it. This is my first pic using painter and Ive already learned a bunch.

    done w/ photoshop and Painter9
ps.. sorry for the bloom effect, I just couldnt resist.

    He used html~~

    Here:

^ I think the concept is cool. The lightning isn't bad, i think it's only thing one bright face that shines through. But the clouds are definitely a weakness. I also don't like how this whole piece is very inconsistent. Looks like you painted a bit, lost interest, then rushed. I dunno.

    Hey, I like you name

i like it but i dont like the crop, i'd like to see the rest of it so that i can get a feel of its overall shape and scale. nice vibe though.

maybe try adding more details in to make it more realistic.

    great though

    um, yeah.. its different now

Thanx alot for the comments so far.. I realized the damn thing wasnt as done as I thought it was... for starters the canvas size was way too small for the detail I wanted and yes, those clouds sucked.

So, I dont know if its kosher to do this but I updated the file instead of reposting. The canvas is twice the size now and lots of room for more detail. Further more, the cropping is a little better.

I know this is the "finished" thread and not the "WIP" thread... sorry. I promise, its really done now. have at it.

i think the clouds are the best part in this work !

the mecha work is a lil' too messy, i can't understand how it works...

well personally, I think its an awesome image. The composition is very "photographer", even though I can see the views of the other posts. Also, which
brushes do you use? You have the look I want to go for but have no idea how to go about doing it.

    Thanks everybody...

Hey, thanks for the feedback everyone.
Kian3001: (really liked the "City of Dis" piece, btw) As for brushes... It was oils for the clouds and the rest of it is, sadly, the cover pencil at varying widths and opacities.... So really, Im only beginning to see what painter can do.

Alti: I see youre point. I guess I didnt know what moved or "did what" because I envisioned it as a static object. a fortress, really. I mean, It doesnt really do too much. I dont know if thats what you meant, but otherwise, Yeah, I guess its a little low on cognitive-realism or detail, if you know what I mean. Maybe if you could point out an area that seems conceptually underdeveloped... Thatd be really helpful since Id like to adress that issue if its a hinderance to "understanding" the piece.
