    Exclamation Do the Dinobot Stomp!

You could consider this one of the first eatpoo responses to the Thunderdrome Challenge, but Slag here obviously isn't an original creation. I've seen a lot of portfolio sites where artists have "vamped up" one of their old favourite Autobots or Decepticons with their own style so I figured I'd try it myself.

    Any C&C always appreciated.

Hey, very nice rendering job there! I love the background as well. I have one suggestion though. Spatially, this piece is looking kind of flat. For instance, Slag's left front and back legs both appear to be about the same distance away from the viewer. Its hard to tell them apart. you could pop the front leg out by adjusting the contrast relative to the back leg or even putting a dust cloud in between them. Just a thought.

On a related note, I had the stegosaurus dinobot when I was about six. I brought it with me on a trip to the zoo one time and left it in the car while I was there. When I got back into the car, I found my stegosaurus dinobot with both of its back legs broken off!! I never figured out what happened...

Stegasaurus eh? wasn't that Snarl or something? sucks man... I had that happen to my Arealbot (Silverbolt, for anyone who cares) once. Never got it fixed right

anyway, I think Slag here turned out very nice! good job!

Hi guys, thanks for all this awesome feedback! Sorry I took so long to respond, though, and a BIG apology for the image being taken down (I hope you all managed to save it somewhere!) All I can say is that it's attracted the attention of some interesting people  I'm hoping I can include it on my website when it's built.

Oblio - Thanks, man. I saw some of Seedone's work up on the Thunderdome contest and thought, "err, maybe not this time!" I'm worried about us eatpooers getting our arses kicked!

jng - The background was a lot of fun to paint, thankfully! Used a photo-ref of Alaska to get the atmospere.

Gray - I'm glad I picked the right background for it then. Was toying with other environments like the surface of Mars and that sort.

Joshuathejames - hehe, it's all 80's cartoon nostalgia here, isn't it? I'd love to try painting the Sorceress sometime. She was hot!

nardfrog - High five... Down low... Too slow! Cheers, man. I lost all my transformers so hold onto that one!

McNallyism - That's a good idea for bringing the legs apart. Yeah, there should be a lot more dust behind that front leg as well as in front. Quite a few people thought he had only two legs when they first saw him because there wasn't anything separating them. Thanks very much for pointing that out. That sucks what happened to Snarl, too. Very mysterious!

TJ Verhagen - Cheers, glad you like it!

Mr. Magnetichead - Ah, good old Grimlock! I'd love to see someone paint him.

Skankerzero - Wow, they're really getting into it. Thanks for both for responding here and putting it up on that forum. They're already complaining about it being taken down now, doh! Guess I'd better register and respond to that thread. I was definitely considering posting it on a fan-site somewhere to see the response, but it looks like you saved me the trouble

    This is great. GOOOO transformers!

One small crit: His horn seems to be in a weird perspective. Imo it should be pointed more towards us, so we just see the point and a little bit of it.

    Just my thoughts anyways...

Brilliant work man. . .I'm a big Transformers fan, Slag always was one of my favourites. The Dinobots kick arse!

I'm dying to see more transformers stuff on concept art. . .maybe you could do him when he's in robot mode too?
