I like the idea of scanning in a brush-stroke (or spatter) and using it as a digital brush. Never thought of that - I'll test it.

I know it's all about practice and practice - but maybe you professionals wouldn't mind putting on a step-by-step work? That might inspire and help other artists a bit, cause I always find myself stuck behind the screen with my tablet after one hour thinking.. ok... so... what next? It usually ends up as a mess cause I add too much.

But then again, time is money, so if you don't have any, don't do it.

This is a selfportrait, zombiestyle.. when I'll get the hang of coloring there might be added some blood and gore.

Hey everyone, thanks for the awesome comments. I'm glad u enjoyed my happy little zombies. Iwasink. dude, thanks and ya, oscar is a good name huh? haha. Mark Malone, awesome chubby zombie man. keep it up. Here's a lighting comp I did before I painted up the actual painting. Did I mention this is a cover to a comic book I'm doing with some friends?

And here is a page I just finished coloring today for the book. Pencils by Lionel Ordaz. The chubby guy on the left is the zombie/vampire on the cover. He doesn't look like that until a nightmare sequence later in the book tho. This is a bit rough but i have to go pretty fast. a page a day. critiques appreciated. thanks guys. used photoshop 7 and a wacom.

    Interesting that lighting compostion, really.
Some things in the drawing with the bed look so real (mattress against the wall, stains on the wall) but something takes the whole feel out of it. I don't really know what, might be the fact that I can't see the whole picture on my screen and I have to scroll.

I guess if you made every page look like that cover and you have a good story, you might get lots of money for that book. I'd say: give it time! Even if ou spent a whole year on it, the result will be there and you'll get your reward.

It was bound to happen sooner or later...

I couldn't help but notice how the girl zombies in this thread have a tendency to have their boobage still intact. I guess plastic sure does make it possible.

I'm requesting more zombie pinups from everybody. Keep up the good work all!

thanks for the advice on the page zergaloth. I think you're right. to much texture in the background can take away from the characters. And I know what you mean about taking time to do things nice and detailed. but unfortunately, time isn't something i have when it comes to submitting to distributors and stuff. It's all about being able to deliver before deadlines. goodtimes right?

Great stuff everyone - very inspiring ... now if I can just figure out how to post my zombie too? Maybe I have to wait a bit before I can post attachments? Until then, you can kinda make him out in my avatar...

This is my first post in these forums - I'm trying to get back into doing my own artwork in my off-work hours but it's been hard - but scrolling through these threads is like a bionic kick in the pants to get back into it - so thanks a lot everyone!

    Ah ha! I think I figured it out ... I am so smart ... s, m, r, t!

...and a close up of the mouth, just because:

...and an animated giff of him mumbling.

Hive_minD, Thanks so much for the compliment. Actually I do have a tutorial on my site for this painting. It's one of my first tutorials so I hope you like it. I used an Iwata airbrush. The Micron cm-sb is iwata's best I think. I looove this airbrush. the lines can be so fine, you can literally sign a check with it.
Great job everyone. really awesome work here.
