    Lightbulb oh my goodness

I'm sorry. I posted on your art before. But that was before I looked at ALL of your work. and this was my expression of your work ---> . You are one of my biggest inspirations now. Oh...please don't stop posting. I promise if you don't stop..you'll be my fav artist here (I have a lot though). ......thank goodness for conceptart.org, my retreat from reality.
Da Vinci was a concept artist
11/30/03-11/30/05. Thanks CA, for all the great inspiration. When will I update? I dont know...

    Cheers guys

Hesse- I've got alot of pencils, generally I use around the HB-2B area. Defining lightsources?. haha I dunno what I'm doing, its guess work at best.

Last years stuff. I recently went through a patch where my work went pear shapped.. almost reversed in quality. Shit happens eh.

Glad you like the kid sketches.. never attempted to draw kids before so its strange that I find them almost easier than adults. "There must be a logical explanation captain"

Artists block.. yeah I know the buzz.. my sketches took a down turn recently. FRUTSRATION.

i am puzzled. are these all from imagination?

how do you get such a good handle with tone?!. you use pure linework and it looks great. A lot is realistic. The lighting is just awesome.

    inspiring to say the least.

    beautiful

lukias, yer shits the shit and then more the shit than before.

I like your sketchy method but the polished pieces are rad, make me wanna draw and sheeeiiitt (but not both at the same time). do you spray your drawings with fixative in between laying in those massive amounts of tonal detail? smudging is a little issue with me right now.

If there is any way you can get some pics of your paintings on this thread there would be much rejoicing.

    awesome work

killing people- Thanks alot man...(super nice digi portraits btw!)

Josef.K- Heh cheers, I'll see what I can do

endregan- Yes all from imagination.. .
how do you get such a good handle with tone?!.
    Practise
really appreciate the kind words mate

TARGETE- Nope.. since I came back from my Europe OE I have been living with my folks..on the Kiwi fruit orchard. Heh lazy days of summer. I'm in training I suppose... self schooling myself.. seriously thinking about getting into the fine arts scene over here, maybe they'll accept me and my weird idea's. NZ has nothing but abstract and landscape painters.. it needs a large kick up the arse I say. My job.
Most of my sketch work is pretty..sketchy, some dont take that long.. others really do. My paintings are only traditional though I'm afraid mate. Concept stuff later. You should sketch more man!
Heres to you cranking out some pencil work :chug:

    dialation- Thanks

Yiako- whoa.. can't say I mind I comment like that... who's Del Bosco??(found nothing on Google)

steak-tron- Nahh I should spray them.. some of my work is smudged..only from the pages rubbing over time. I don't really smudge work while I'm drawing.
Tip- Everyone should know you draw from left to right(If right handed.. though thats not really feasible when you continue to rehit a piece over and over)
Put a tissue under where you rest your hand, I've done it before and it works sweet.
    Cheers

MIKECORRIERO- None of these are from life or reference, its all conceptual. I'll take that as a great compliment if you don't mind! Seems my efforts are paying off
    thanks man.

WOOT.. my first oils and first colour work. I'm feeling OK with things.. I try not to expect too much though I'm still dissatisfied.

Sorry guys only traditional stuff, nothing conceptual.

First is taken from photo of me when I was 2 or 3. Bad ref choice when I think back.. 2inch photo that was faded. Just cos I thought it looked cool doesn't mean it'll be paint friendly. Overall a bad job, never finished it(did this start of last year before doing my OE)

2nd is from a photo I took in when I was I was traveling last year... pic is of a French girl, taken in Lyon. I tried to stick to the photo and spent ages getting nowhere, I swear I was on the brink of giving up painting at one point and was just about to turps the whole piece. I decided ot screw the ref(as far as colour goes) and just slap around colour as I saw fit. eventually it looked OK I thought. heh but I never finished it.

(as you can see I have amazing photography skills)

First life study. Biggest lesson I got here was that you should either wash your brush more or have several.

From a b/w photo.. just messing around. Slightly smaller than actual size.

From a mag cover. Gave to mumsies as a Xmas prezzie. In the photo here its not finished... I suggested a white shirt and added a few minor touch ups later.

Taken from photo that was on front page of the World section, New Zealand Herald news paper. Looked like it should be a painting so I gave it a shot. Its taken in outside light, really strong light so some darks appear lighter and makes it appear messy in area's(which I suppose it is, though looks better inside).

Big sketch, weird shit. Both the above painting and this sketch were for a fine arts comp. Sold the painting and got 2nd place for the sketch. Stoked. Used myself as ref for torsoe and faces.. haha you should see the original photo's.. tard am I.

man i envy you. you have grass. its all white here, oh well spring will come soon .

    the last painting is wonderful...

the sketch is great! congrats on the 2nd place. its such a good drawing. it seems a bit faded, is that just the sun playing tricks?
