Holy Crap..how did I miss this book of delight?
Well shame on me. Thanks for the kindness over on my sb.
But, I think in a sense you got things back to front...im the one that
could learn tons here. The poses are fluid yet solid. Those clean heavy lined femmes are absolutely phenomenal. The SP is astounding. There are
a couple of rough stage ones that I'd like to see pushed further on...but i don't know how you feel about them so..suffice it to say that im subscribed to this sb.
    Can't wait for more.
    Cheers!

EDIT: As I was rolling back through here...i noticed that alot of your work is very figure-centric. Not that that's a
bad thing...but just wondering if you would do a fully fleshed out enviro piece?

    Wink

John_the_One, thanks! I'm flattered to have my stuff on a wall!

Thanks a lot, Helzon! Yes, I would love to do more environments. Not really secure with them, as I like to do the human figure.

Skeiff yay! I'm loving the oils too!

OldNoobie and hurricane, thanks for the comments on her pose. I've been wanting to do a twisting girl for quite some time, but it's hard! So, I'll refine her definitely. Probably re-sketch it totally for practice.

Here's a little something based on character's and cookiedough's descriptions. EL MUSTACHO!! I'm going to redo this, but it was a quicky to hash out ideas.

You have some great ideas; i love the skull you did and the girl for the calendar. I see you are working on faces. Your figure drawing from ref pics could use some improvement but you knew that. Great sketchbook!

    LOL. Burning girl is hot.

But seriously, your Self Portrait was probably in the ten that stood out for me the most on November 1. The skull is very good too. Ingres paper has a laid texture to it that might allow you to get the texture effects without being too textury. (I know. It's not a real word.) If Pasadena is not too far for you then they have Ingres paper at the Blick store on Raymond near Colorado. The parking garage on Green Street will give you 90 minutes for free and you can go in and feel the paper to see if you like it. The texture thing really worked for you, and I'd love to see what you could do with a sheet of paper you liked. It comes in a bunch of different colors too.

There's a lot of great work in here. My favorites are the sketch of your dog, and the horse with his face peeled off. Both would be strong portfolio pieces if polished off. they show a great creativity, that also shows through in some of your creature concepts.

What bugs me most in your less finished work is the edge treatment - making some soft and some sharp to show one thing is in front of another. With so many of your drawings the edges are great - the crisp linework in certain poses, etc, so I know you know how to do it. But when you get to painting/digital painting, it's all sloppy.

I also realy liked the seal/woman sketch, and the "winter" woman one. Those could make good paintings.

Oh, one other crit, the breasts. You aren't drawing the pectoral muscles above them.

    Thumbs up Update

Haven't posted in here in 2 years because I've got a toddler who is almost 2. She has taken all of my time and energy, so I can't get around to art too much. I hate that part

Anyhoo, here is a the user, Ilaekae, and a self portrait, both in pencil. Both given some highlights in Photoshop.

Someday, maybe I'll be lucky enough to sit down with someone who can teach me how to draw hair. I am so hopelessly lost when it comes to that.

Cool stuff! The portrait looks real nice, and I dont think you had a bad start with the hair. It just looks like you gave up on it before it went anywhere. The hair in your pencil portraits look good, so maybe try to do the same thing you did there digitally? Maybe easier said than done.
    Love bandito chicken.
