Yeah, I agree with you there. We'll carry out the tournament like that then. To make all the randomness truly random, I downloaded a program that randomly pairs matches from the entire list of competitors. How sweet is that.

Thats pretty sick man. I hope I can make it past round one, there are so many skilled pro's participating. But I can't wait! This was a great idea.

That is pretty radical. Better than picking them out of a hat everytime.

how about you guys make 3 classes of users ( beginner, novice and pro or whatever ) and then pick names out of the hat to match the people up out of those individual classes.. if that makes sense

Thats what I originally thought would be a good idea, but it's more intense if you think you might get picked to go against someone that will kick your ass. Also going against someone at a higher level will hopefully make you work harder to come up with a peice that can compete with theirs. I might get my ass kicked, but if I walk away with a portfolio peice, I'll be happy

I think it's better to not have classes.. more fun that way I believe. Either way in the end it will still be the best of the best that will battle it out.

While ideally I think it would be kind of cool to set up a dome like that, there is no fair way we could determine who goes in what class. I dig the current dome setup because no one is safe, no one can comfortably choose their battles now. You will only advance to the next round if you deserve to, so the quality of art from round to round will only go up.

This isn't your mother's thunderdome, ladies, anyone of you could be going up against the best conceptart.org's finest! Have enough respect for your opponent to work your ass off and submit your best work. Don't dissapoint the bloodthirsty masses watching this from outside the cage by showing up without a piece...

Fungi>> I second Olson. Either way, it will work itself out real quick after the first and the second rounds...also more good pieces of art we will see from you and all the pros.
Better for the world to see.

And if anyone feel they are not up against their partner...they can drop it and the opponent will automatically get to the next round without having to turn in any art work. And if anyone doesn't complete and post in time, they will be droped out.

    NO MERCY
    Sound cool?

ok, here's another idea, may be too late or whatever, but how about a thread for every duel with a poll, so people can give c&c and vote for their fav...the poll would be up for a few days ors so...

I think this would give a very nice exchange of opinions and comments for everyone...the judges will be swamped with giving c&c for every piece...

    format for tourney

so i've a question. i'm new to thunderdome so i'm not sure how we're doing this.

will there be one piece created for each round or are we creating just one piece to enter in the tourney and that one piece will go up against all comers?

i think it would be more fun to create a new piece for each round. and it would be great for newbies to go up against the pros with random selection. my only suggestion is the pros, upon kicking major ass, provide plenty of healthy c&c for the vanquished noob.

i think that way not only is this hella fun but serves what i think is the overall function of this site, to teach and inspire.

to quote beast of x-men fame: let's blow this taco stand!

Those fortunate to make it to the next rounds will create a new piece every time.

well kauser, in TD, there isn't just one piece, its a series and a piece for each round against your opponent, u wont be competing against more than one person at a time. and i think that the better artist would and should give some crits to the loser.

With all these people, we need some music in this forum to pump people up. It should be playing Eye of the Tiger, or some other song from an 80's fight film, get some music from blood sport.
