    Illustration Portfolio

I've been working on my illustation portfolio recently and wanted to post a few of my pieces. I plan on showing it around at the Comic Con in San Diego next week. I'd like to eventually do cards for Wizards or other companies in that genre. I'd love to hear any kind of feedback. Thanks.

    cards

these are all great, things that are defiently not going to waste others time showing them around, one thing I noticed is with the woman creeping through the jungle like area the calf muscle on the leg nearest to her, it seems very rectangular. Other than that I can see no flaws these are all pretty bloody good hope you get somewhere with them

Darth Maul and the surfer are both good, strong pieces. The amazon jungle girl should get cut. The rest could go either way. What I really really HATE, though, are the borders. They make everything looked skewed and off balance, and are so distracting I had to really work on looking at the art. Not the effect you want to be going for in a portfolio.

dude... the amazon girl is my favorite! Otherwise I have to agree with Elwell. The borders are overwhelming.... let the art speak for itself.

    Looks very good !

The surfer seems to have only 4 fingers on his left hand, looks a bit confusing. Other than that, nice work!

Empty: Yup, freelance is the plan. I'm currently contracting with Sony where I'm working a 9-5 with them. I'd like to turn it into more of a freelance client, so I can start heading towards my illustration career.

Sems: Thanks for the kind words and the crit. Your right about her calve, I'll soften that shadow.

One2hit: Well your my first fan! Thanks.

Elwell: Thank you for your crits. I always seem to get a response from you, thank you!

Chingwa: I took both your and Elwell's advice and simplified the borders. I was a bit "iffy" and that was the kind of response I needed. Thanks!

    Predator: Thanks!

    Snotboebel: Thanks for the crit!

Thanks everyone for all of your replies! I'll try and post the rest soon.

    these all look good,
but i am going to back elwell on the border comment.
they do add some action to the pieces,
but probably do more bad than good.

    a border is fine,
but dont let it compete with the work you are placing in it.

why add a border when you could have shown your work 25 % larger ?!

Agree, the I find the border distracting and interfering with the viewing of the image. If you have one, make it very simple.

    Other than that, awesome stuff.

I think that everything exept Maul and surfer need little "make up".

Wow, really great illustrations, besides the border issue, I have one crit. The pirate peice, his middle finger is bending in a way fingers don't bend. I really dig the lone warrior peice. Thats pretty badass. I like your color choices.
