Nice job with the coloring so far!I love the character design, and the pale hair and pink ears/nose look great together.

Really liking the pose of this fish dude. Do you use texture filters in any of your color pieces?

The creature is looking awesome! Where's his other arm? You might want to make some of the tendrils up by his face a bit less... stiff-looking. Right now his head doesn't give the impression that he's underwater, so maybe if you made the tendrils more curvy and floaty that would help.

Cacodaemonia: Thanks. Yeah, I intend to...just sorta stopped drawing where it is now.
palladium: Nope. I'd like to eventually. I just use a simple hard/soft round
Update: Started working on the movie poster elements:

While I can see you've been up to some good stuff (the 'creature' is coming along great btw), when will we get to see the finished version of Moped Girl? I'd been enjoying watching the progression...
Awesome CHOW!

Cacodaemonia: THANKS!
Byrd: Oh, I'll be getting back to them soon. Just taking on some side-fun right now
Here's this weeks CHOW:
I started thinking today about the Il Palio horse races in Siena, Italy and how the before-hand there are these elaborate parades showcasing real Renaissance style armor. That got me thinking.
What if in the 2700's they do the same thing with us. They put on these elaborate jousting competitions to mimic the real space race that went on when man first left the confines of Earth. Each side dons, old-tech inspired suits, similar to the genesis NASA suits and Cosmonaut ones.
So I'm going for an illustration that kind of represents that ideal. The suit is kind of generic right now, and isn't going to look exactly like our current day suits...but along those lines.

purb36: Yeah, i kind of agree. I'll be tweaking that whole area once i decide how i want to design the shield. Wish I could join in the sketch group...you guys seems to going craaazeeee these days. I get all the update posts. Nice work. Who knows, maybe i'll show up again, it's just hard to drive home from work and then head back out again.
hp: Wow man thanks. I'm not sure..I think i'm just thinking more about what i'm doing when i'm doing it...if that makes any sense. I'm also doing bw underpaintings first which helps with the values...then I apply a color over layer very quickly. (and this allows me to tweak colors fast)
Update:
I really want to push the Space-race era, 1960's futuristic stylings. Like a future-retro look, with a slight propaganda theme mixed in. Kind of like, what if in the far future, those styles come back, but in a USSR dominant sort of way.
Coming along. The neck area is too long and the collar/shoulders don't fit right. that'll be fixed.

Hey man. You got a realy neat style. And you're sketches look really great and have a really unique feel to them. Especially love the anatomy in that barbarian guy.
What you should do more is push them to the finish. And you could push your digitals a bit further by ensuring that you still keep your values. That's what I'm missing in the scifi guy for example. The face realy gets losts. Be sure to add some more darks in there. And try and blend it a bit more you often have a bit of a too defined brush stroke.
Anyways great work man keepitup!
forgot to post the final Jacob Marley (with a few extra sketches)

push the values on top and make it stand out more from the light bottom.

i'm feeling the 50's pulpish vibe from this one. love the colors
RickyRubyo: Thanks man. That's what I was aiming for.
Krato: Hmmm. I'll try that. Thanks

Here's a quick update. I'm still working on the whale comic with my friend, and we should have it printed up for comic-con. (Well, printed up in terms of, enough to hand out to art directors and such)
Here are just some of the background cast. Just various fishermen designs.
We want to have a giant concept sketchbook at the end of the comic, so I really want to flesh everything out...even stuff that might not end up in the story itself.

aha, those whale concepts are pretty slick, you're characters have so much flavor.
Thanks Metal Fingers!
Here's a quick sketch of the Werewhale. This is pretty close to how I want the character to look like. I'm going to do a final painting, and some other views, there may be some final tweaking, but this is it.
