I'm a stickler for mythology and this sketch is shaping up to be fantastic.
Planning on taking it further? Paints?
lookin' good so far...but i think u have to show more the snakes on her hair....
Quite astounding.
Natalie Hall: wow, Thank you.
Dan Valkar: yeah, you're right...right now it's just sorta placement hair, form...i'll be detailing it soon. although it the finished some of the snakes are just going to be in shadow and not really detailed at all.
The Lunatic Oh, I'll be finishing it all right. It's for Chow 100. It'll be digi-painted like normal.
I really want to move to the next level here, so any crits (as you hard they come) would be appreciated.

Great drawings!
Keep Posting!
Grizz
oh wow man, your style is so sweet. although you should sketch more with the pencil, like in the beginning of the thread. keep rockin'! 5 stars
Frank Thanks, man! Yeah, it's so hard to go back to a reg. sketchbook now. It's weird, but you're right...i should.
Grizzliman Oh good, that's exactly what I was shooting for. Thanks.
Update: Started painting some. The dress itself is going to be semi-see-through (what do they call that kind of fabric?)...but will be structured in scales.

Looking great, it's a pleasure to watch.![]()
Thanks Gasphemer.
Here's an update. There's some areas that I'm not liking anymore and I need to repaint them. The face needs a lot of work, the dress still needs something extra...I think I lost something interesting between the sketch and this...I may need to go back a little. I really want it to look like she's been wearing the same dress for decades and it's falling apart. I do like the arms and upperbody, the snakes and the background...although I want to add some sort of architectural element, be it a carved column or relief or something into the cave wall.

Really good! Very own style, but also a very interesting picture very strict, especially like this style, you would like to see more work.
Thanks guys. Glad you stopped by.
Update: Back in business! Got the face back on track. Going to start the dress/armor tonight in a similar fashion to her crown.

Trust me, Bhanu, I feel the same way about other that have posted too. I kinda nervous for when all the finals are shown...I feel as though a lot of people are hiding their little jems. Thanks, though.

this is just personal preference but i think she would look better if her eyebrows were tilted downwards. Im not saying make her look angry, but i think it would look kinda sexy:

QuickSketch: Thanks...I thought about that...or least making one of them tilt downward...kinda giving a evil smirky look. I kinda like them both level and up...makes her seem more...cold...i think.
Merry Christmas guys and gals. Have a good one.

Finishing up Medusa now. Cleaned up brushwork on cave, fixed shoulder area. Still need to finish hands, skin texture, cave wall ... maybe lighten the eyes a bit. (maybe even make one eyebrow downish) I love how they look really close up, but they dissappear at 100% normal view.

Nice stuff man!
Enjoy looking at your stuff. Your version of the chow100 is just sexy.
Like the pose, face and "hair". Though, for some reason I liked the red version of it better. More different, and daring. But maybe that's just me.
I'll be back as soon as I have more time!

Hive_minD: Thanks. Yeah, I kinda like the red hair as well...but I"m not sure if it fits the color scheme of the piece as much. I'm keep looking at that little experiment and wondering though... maybe....i'll have to see. Thanks for commenting though.

Nice work snair, love the poses and loose feel to the original sketch for the woman....
Rabid Peanut: Thanks man.
Okay, I think she's done now. I may tweak a few things here and there, but she's done. I just wish some of the tiny details could be seen in the big version.

I've seen your Medusa in the CHOW thread, and although I rather like I think her face looks a little..I dunno, tight? A few things I noticed is that her nose doesn't seem to be in the middle (the area between nose and lips looks weird) and her eyebrows are at a different hight while her eyes are the same. I have to agree with what Quick Sketch that she would probably more striking if here eyebrows aren't raised as much as they are now. In your initial sketch they're lower as well.

yoitisi: Thanks for the crit. I've played around a bit and I think you guys were right. I lowed the eyebrow just slightly (esp. the left one), made them even, lowed the tip of the nose, fixed the lip and went ahead a fixed a few other details as well. I think I'm done now. So a big thanks you to guys.
