Hey nice update. You captured the pants really well on that second drawing. I don't see any problems myself except the shoulder area seems a little funny and the bicep area should be a little larger I think. But it's really good.
Great job.
The latestlife drawings are looking good. I congradulate you on the use of a toned paper. It makes hitting your lights and darks that much easier because your middle ground is already taken care of.
Man I should hit up some life drawing again...and soon.
Thanks for reminding me![]()
Heres a small update, did some silhouettes yesterday just for fun to get my brain moving. Definitely a fun exercise to just put something down on paper.
overall only really liked a couple of them, but thats what doing these is all about.

Hey there,
Nice update. I really like your silhouettes. I'm gonna have to try doing that myself.
On your speed paint: It looks good and I can tell it's sort of round. I like your colors and everythign too. But I think it would be a much stronger piece if you tightened up some of the areas a little more and also made sure the shapes are exactly how you want them. I'm noticing a cornor type shape on the lower right side...mabye you wanted it there but the rendering suggests you were going for a rounder shape.
Good job though.

Work more from life. Try using some charcoal or just pencils and work on controlling the line and drawing what you see. You got a good start with your figure drawing, just keep at it. Try setting little daily goals such as draw four objects from your house, or four sketches from life a day. You don't need to do them all at once but try to get them all done by the end of the day. AS you get better and better add more tast to do and soon you will be on fire. Also try not to paint in photoshop right now because I don't think you have a good understanding of light and your time could be spent better eslewhere. Andrew loomis books are good place to study.
I have a large list of links here you may check out.

Looking good brother!
Yeah I would second that while I am seeing progress, more hands on life drawing and studies would probably catapault you even faster.
On a side note I'm digging your silhouettes, I tried a few out myself the other day because of yours. I'll post them when I update next.
All in all looking good, keep at it!
Small Update of stuff
I really love drawing cars, but I really need to work on my perspective, more practice must be done!
Anyone have any recommendation on Transport design books/websites/tutorials?
Also checked out some book from the library of Master drawings, so will be studying a lot from that in the coming days/weeks/months/years
More to come!

Nice update!
Toned paper is niceI have one crit however. I'm not perfect myself and I'm always making this mistake too, but anyway remember to measure and compare all the time. It will seem like a chore at first but it will get more natural as you do it. The reason I point this out is because the neck on the girl on the right and the right leg on the guy throwing the javalin both appear too long.
Other than that great progress!

You're coming along man, coming along. I like the BMW hehehe. Yeah i think you just need to get further into tighter construction. But i see you deffinatly crossing over to where you want to be. Just keep putting in those reps man.

O Hio!
Interesting update! Your figures are coming on nicely so... no crits there, aside from post #41, the girl in your... topright page looks offbalance? unless shes leaning on something, and the geezers crouch looks a little wonky... apart from that nice going.
Cant think of any car/technical drawing stuff really, ive got a fair few references but it aint machines for the most part. However, their are car/vehicle design things covered in Gnomon dvd's, whether or not thats useful is, dunnoone of em probably teaches the basics on construction.
Waiting on more!
Nice master studies. Gave me an idea to do some of them myself.
For transportation design and perspective drawing I would also recomend gnomon dvd-s by Harald Belker and Scott Robertson. They cover a lot. Perspective construction, design principles, ...
Any books about cars, trains, ... should be usefull. For studying, reference, ... And because a lot of times vehicles and their parts are redesigned using some old design as a reference or a starting point.
Maybe you've seen it allready. It is an extremly usefull for basic perspective construction:

I'm liking the studies, good work.
One comment I have though is that you seem to be shying away from feet and hands. Try not to do that and really practice them. Many people have a fear when it comes to these appendages, the best way to overcome it is through persistance.
started school back up again, so updates may be a bit slow, but i will persist!
taking 8 hours of life drawing on tuesdays, so i hope to draw tons and tons and improve to another level in the coming months, did some drawings yesterday, but they are too big to scan, but i will scan them when i get the chance..
did a couple more master head studies, and watched part of the herald beker gnomon dvd on car design, and did some quick thumbs, had a lot of fun just doodling them out. want to do a larger render sometime soon....
stay with me, ill try to keep it interesting!

yeah man, just like everybody else, i'm lovin the studies. i've got an assignment for you though. i'd like to see you take what you've learned since you got it, and try white paper again. i'll be happy to hook you up with "sexy paper" if you need, but i'd really like to see you get back to value control.8)
haha... you and your cars man... are you sitting in on that transport design class yet?

good stuff. My advice is based on a crit I recieved my self not too long ago. Basically you need to really make sure your markes describe the form of the object your drawing. If your going to step your sketch up from being line art, try and make your hatching follow the imaginary 3D planes that give your object volume.
Looking good though, want to see more.
I see a lot of improvement throughout the book. Keep at it. Some nice figures. When drawing remember to cultural the peripheral elements like line quality to really and basically beautify your subjects.
Interesting comment from you brall, i think i need to keep that in mind.
With that said, it will be nice to see where you go from here with all this lifedrawing coming your way, you already seem to be getting to grips with shit so with a push in the right direction... ill wait and see.
In the last 2 fullbody pictures you seem to have one with a large head and one with a small one, so er yeakeep an eye on your proportions, also the top girls legs arent quiet right, the right one is a bit awkward looking and flat and the other one is ok its just her hip whatsit looks a bit .. gone behind her arm.
Take that with a pinch of salt though because im just making suggestions by what i eye off, im not entirely sure myself.
Looking forward to the next update.
Heres an update...wont bore you with words....
