Cool stuff man, unique style of people looks cool, but my only suggestion is you need to some more say studies or something of anatomy. Life drawing classes are great, do you go to any?. I think you need more variation in body sizes and positions and stuff... life drawing helps immensly, especially when u get the fatties and oldies.. tonnes of varition. Same applies to like faces etc. Looks good though.

This is excellent the face and anatomy isnt really excentric so works well. reminds me of Matt Rhodes' work , top notch.

    Hello there,
Are you dutch? Saw some dutch text about "morele ontwikkeling" hihi
I really like the last things you posted, though it would be nice if you would post newer stuff to give me some idea of how you're doing right now and how you've improved.
I like the poses that give me an idea of movement (like this one) and the doodles show a lot of fantasy and imagination.
    The figures look very nice..
I think my advice to you would be to do more studies from reference, and get some anatomy studies.. Don't do too much of them for I don't think you like making realistic stuff, but it will always come in handy when you know a bit more about the human body and such.

By the way; What education are you having?

    love
    Marleen

Well currently I am studying Modern Economics and languages.. man do I hate that.. but bla..
yes I m Dutch lol, that was a doodle on my godsdienst pages.
thank you very much for your kind words. the fact that I am posting so many old things is because I haven’t been on CA for quite a while.. now I m back, ready to give my 100% to be a very active member (.. think I say that sentence very often..too often.. hope this time I can keep my promise.. BAD laziness ) I just wanted to post some doodles I liked from time ago.
wish I could post some more recently things, but unfortunly enough, my horrible laziness and my cool new classmate keeps me from doodling .. I do have some recent paintings I m dying to put it on here somewhere.
Anyways thank you for your advice, I indeed should draw more from references..and do something about my bad anatomy.
Thank you again for your comment
    and see you around

ehmmm... I went to try out a (nude) life drawing class once, nobody said anything about me being 16.. The teacher almost begged me to sign up for the course (okay that is very exaggerated, I wasn't that good for a first try ), but I can't because I already have dance class at that time (this year, next schoolyear I'll start the figure drawing course though!)

So, I don't think there's a problem with you following life drawing courses..
It could be that your parents need to give you permission or something, I don't know about that..
But I think it would be weird if they refuse that you take such course because of underageness.

Oh, and on the last update, the necks of the people are too thin and the foreheads are too small.
    But nice update!

    love

I really like your pen drawings! I agree with the rest here, you have a great style and with a little bit of anatomy study, and less graph paper, you'll be well on your way.

(waw you commented twice in a day .. I feel honoured *giggle*)
erms.. well here is the thing, I live in a very small town, there is a litle afterscool-artschool here, where you can only follow live drawing classes if you are over 18 or just finished secundary school. Cuz if not you have to go to classes where they kinda teach you all diffrend kinda ways to create art, after you finished high school you can choose which way you want to go: painting, live drawing classes, keramiek.. so..bla
but dont like that artschool anyways, m just waiting till I finished high school so I could sign myself in.. although I am doubting between painting or live drawing clases, cuz you cant do both..

hey thank you for the critic, I really never ever noticed I drew my forheads too small.. and thin long necks.. thats just something I will never have but I want my characters to have.. I know what youre thinking.. this way I ll never be able to draw realistic.. but... agr.. no buts.. you got me there...

anyways, thanks for everything and I wish you all the luck and fun (which you ll probably have) with the classes next year..
    zee juw around *waves*

    hey sopor,

nice sb you've got here, maybe it's a idea to draw your students, tables, teacher and other stuff under 'godsdienst'. That will help you a lot more then mindless drawing and I'm not kidding, I started doing it a little while back and Im really noticing a significant difference.... but still a nice sb, like the creative part of it veel succes, en teken ze!

Hey S+A, thanks for the peek at my SB and I'm returning the favor. I just got finished looking through you images and I like what I see. I would say to keep working on anatomy and sketch anything and everything. You really seem to fly when you experiment with different images and colors and I like to see that kind of exploration. The figure curled up with the fire blazing in the background was a really interesting image. Keep at it.

Hey what's up man. You've got some cool looking schtuff.

This isn't quite as important yet as some of the other things other guys have probably hit on. Anyway, i think your faces are all looking somewhat similar to one another. Maybe you're just using the same refs or person for each one, but if you aren't, just try drawing some really different looking people compared to what you're used to. They don't have to be supermodels- just draw anybody. I don't think this is quite as important in the beginning stages than focusing on things like line quality, but i figure people already touched on those subjects. Anyway, keep up the good work!

@ Sith: I think your comment is very usefull and I thank you for that. You are totaly right, I really always draw the same faces. Think that is because I m not used to drawing other faces, dont know why, but for all the rare times I try to draw from a reference, the face always look the same face like I always draw.. need to practise on that guess .. anyways thanks a lot for your comment

Forced myself to draw from a ref, I m really not used to that, cuz in one way or the other, it feels like stealing.. used to really be anti-drawing from ref.. but think kinda realised that that is nesecery to become a better 'artist'

thinking to do all my sketches with watercolor, so I could also improve those skills .. but i m so damn lazy didnt wanted to finish it anymore..

some older sketch out an anatomy book, my exuses for her face..

I love your pens! About the faces, try using ref photos! But i really wouldn't mind if you keep practicing with them, cause they are beautiful.... you're syle could evolve around them. who knows!

Hey! These are really good, just keep values and line weight in mind. The way you draw is a bit stylish, I'd say go for a more realistic direction, when you know how things are Supposed to be it's cool to make your own variations then. So nothing else to add than what has already been said.
Well... I guess I'll just say the classic phrase. 'Keep it up!' --d

You've got a good feel for pen, it's a cool medium to use. The lines are really nice as well (sort of a necessity with pen). The confidence in your lines are great, just keep pumping that stuff out.

    Hello there!
Those last few updates are very nice! I think the drawings from ref are good, and they will learn you a lot.
I agree about drawing different faces. Oh, and maybe try drawing a face of a very old person, or a fat person? Or just someone average who isn't a supermodel. I think you can find a lot of things in those faces you cant find in the average "vogue" picture, and who knows, maybe you'll like some of those features.

I like your pen sketches a lot! I never really draw with pens, but maybe I should try it out too sometimes, it looks very nice in your sketches hihi.

    Keep drawing and posting!

As for your conundrum with no life drawing classes, have you tried getting a friend to pose for you? I'm 17, and had a girl I barely know posed for me in her underwear, under the condition that I gave her the pictures once I was done. So I got in some practice from a live model, and she got some drawings she really liked. Everybody wins. This won't work if all your friends are prudish, though, but it's worth a shot.

If that fails, or if you're too shy to ask, just try sitting down in a coffee shop and drawing people around you. People are usually too wrapped up in themselves to notice if someone is drawing them. It's better to do this in summer since people will be wearing less clothes, and thus, will be closer to a nude model. You still get a feel for gesture either way.

    Goodluck, and keep it up.

I m trying to use the advice I got here, to use other colours for shading, very scary ... but very proud of the result

used a ref, its not finished yet, planning to paint a lot of flowers around her, but still doubting bout which one and which colour... I know her mouth is weird, I could correct it with photoshop, but it wouldnt make any diffrend cuz in the real one, I cant change it anymore so bla.. the real version

used the same picture before last year, when I was too chicken to use diffrend colours.. didnt even finish the picture cuz I chickend out...
