lighting! design! perspective! proportion!
And (self)motivation is still everything.
Ace stuff man.. the marker transport stuff is very realistic.
Cant wait for me.
Top notch amazing stuff.. the machines and creatures are beautiful. I wish i had a crit or two but i don't.. except maybe make a website!![]()
bootiful, really diggin' the shading, your things truly are shiny, the aircraft are fantastic, perspective's off in a few places but who cares they get the point across brilliantly.
Great stuff as always Barrett. You've got a rare gift.

Hey these are looking really good, no crits I can find in any of them thus far. One of your flying "machines" (I shall say machines as I'm not sure if theyre considered an aeroplane) reminds me of a gun for some reason :s anyway great work, would like to see more.
wow awesome sketches! Really inspiring stuff. Designs are all totally cool. Only thing i can crit is the color work- i think you would benefit from some darker tones towards the shadowed areas. and some more changes in color here and there (for example rust stains, discolorations etc.). Although i realise its just a very quick color job, might be something to use next time.
CRAP!
...I'll just pick up my last sketchbook attempt. I've been pretty busy lately, trying to get back into my groove after a summer slump.
Here's some recent stuff.

More tonight, I hope. If not, feel free to chastize me mercilessly for my lack of dedication. Or maybe you could get me a cup of coffee.

Your rendering of metallic surfaces is really effective and impressive!
I'm also really likin the watercolors, especially the color choice in the shadows and the reflective surfaces on the van. I wish I could have seen the process you did for the minivan, as I am very timid with watercolors and can't seem to sketch out anything with them without being confined to some rough-pencil barrier, if that makes sense.
What size are those watercolor pieces?

the watercolors are each about 12 inches on their longest sides. Here's a little OpenCanvas sketch, a concept for a Toyota MR2, should Toyota ever decide to start making cars people can be excited about again...

Very good coloration! Keep it up![]()
wow that car looks sweet and realistic! Your "pelican man" has good shading! But i cant see anyone smiling!
Wow, nice work here. Your concepts are solid. So are your watercolors.
What do you do for a living?
Hugs!

Here's a Z-car concept sketch. I think I'll refine it a bit more- nose feels a little fat, though it might be because the wheel arches are indefinite, making the wheels feel small.
update: somehow, it got fatter. bleh... on to something else...
