Looking good so far, nice atmosphere.

Focal point right now is at the bright white water, might wanna either change that or put something for us to look at there.
The objects coming out of the rock look too soft, when doing artificial structure its more effective to use hard edged brushes.
Im digging the grayscale so far, it helps with the mood.

Nice enviro, my only critique is the little black shape in the lower right corner, its squiggly manner looks a little out of place, if it were smoother it would look better I think. Maybe I'm just nitpicking, good job anyway

This one is quite good, the detail on the right structure and softness on the left creates depth of field and focus areas.
Two things to pay attention to when it comes to artificial structures are symmetry and shadows. The two pieces sticking out of the wall should have the same curve to keep everything looking clean.
The other issue is that in geometric structures like this, shadows are generally flat (look at photos, or environments from people like Daarken), whereas here Im seeing a bit too much play with value in the shadows, even for secondary lighting.

Colour and mood-wise the latest one is your best environment yet I think!
Do some more work on it, sharpen/tighten up a focal point, and I'd straighten up some of the curved lines to give it more structure.
Keep at it, these are great!

    Thanks guys...

Went to my sceond life drawing class today.. got a small and a long pose done.

Because of all the crappy light in my house -0 bad lighting ... and ,my scanner not being big enough. The Picture i got was with my digi camera - so its teh sucks for quality. This was the long pose of the night... and i realise how damn big his hand is...

Aside from the hand, thats one solid study! How long was the total study?
I know what you mean on the size, all my sketchbook pages are twice the size of my scanner, I usually scan each page twice, then put together and clean up in PS.
For the most part, the proportions look good, his left forearm seems too long, too, and you already know about the hand.
Values seem solid, but could use more darks to push it further. How large was this study? Maybe you were using too small a tool for that size, try using graphite sticks or conte?

Yeh.. this one in particulrur was about 1 hour 15 maybe with a break (for the model) All the ones i do are on like A2 so there real real big so i can nowhere near fit em on my scanner.. even if i half scan them twice. All of the ive done lik this, and we do once short study (10-30 mins) and then spend the rest of session (2 hours long overall) on a larger study.. so its real cool.

Next week, im taking some good ol parcel paper, gonna work up with white and black conte sticks i got from school, so i should be able to push them as lighting studies alot more. I did have a problem with this one.. working an a2 sheet with my trusty mech pencil.. is pretty killer ... i had to pull out the 2b ever now and then though.

    More to come

Colour-wise, this one has some really nice stuff going on, especially in the background.
I find the composition a bit boring, cliche even? Also, if those small rectangles on the building on the right are windows with lights, the yellow needs to be brighter i think.

Nice stuff, figures are looking good.
Still looking pretty light though but for now just focus on getting the figure right, value and form can come soon enough.
Schiele style doesnt quite read outside of the hands. Needs more of the unsteady-singleline-type work.

Nice solid work on the figures, in addition to what's already been pointed out, on the male, the head looks too small. The only thing I see that looks wrong on the female is that her left arm looks too thin compared to the right. Your perspective stuff looks really nice, do you have any advice as far as books on the subject go?

Thanks for thee crits guys.. i can see the major errors in most of these.

But Dan i have to say ive never ever used a book on perspective... everything ive learned is just through practice and judgement of my own pictures. Youve just got to think about the laws of all the lines and shapes, try looking at lots of pictures with perspective heavy use (Feng Zhu's old stuff has alot of fundemental persepctive use in them).

My random paint for today (sorry ive been slack over the last week):

    Hey Andy!
Still keeping at it and improving!
You should define more of the structure of the ax, seems like hes using a sheet of paper or something.
Keep an eye on the proportions and anatomy too.

er... self portrait... sort of... with a few minor changes. A bit of Wes inspiration.
Its for a small school compotition, topic was autobiography.

Title will be something thought provoking like... The Teenage Wish, or Dreams of Rebellion.
