love the work can definitely see the top cow influence in the pencils very witchbladey, the colouring work on the festering skins and the pustules is perfect, excellent glissening effect, the batman is beautifully dark really love the texture and the muted colours.

The only crit I've got for you is that you doubled up on a post found the back shot of the red dragonny one without too much bother.

Spectacular work as always Dave. Your rendering style is very impressive. Over the years in comics I've seen your work in passing I have always admired it although I have to admit I didn't apprecitate how much you are coming into your own until very lately. Salutations to your current work and your conceptual stuff is excellent.

I rarely look at names when I view posts on here...and before I even saw the name I was thinking , hey that looks like Dave Finch's work......lol hahaha to my delight it was.....
Insane work man, I must admit to being a little starstruck, your work has influenced me over the years, not in that I want to draw like you but just in raw creative fire.......I typically buy anything with your work in it.....

hope you dont mind me asking, what happened to aphroditeIX....that was a kick ass book.
great work man, good luck in the future, and please post more.....

That's some amazing work. I'm a Finch fan now... I can see the Keown influence and a little Sylvestri in there too.

I see more of a later Jim Lee influence (Batman stints, 100 Bullets illustrations, etc), myself, especially in the pencils and Batman pic (also in the anatomy), but it doesn't matter. The work is simply amazing, all of it. Will definitely keep an eye out for your works, and do post more!

Sorry about that! I just set it up so that shouldn't happen again.

Possessed: thanks, they're for a game called Demonik. It's an Xbox 360 game. You can find some info on it at IGN.com

DSIllustration and Mort and Matt: Hehe, sorry about the ass explosion! I guess they're not supposed to be pretty. I wonder if I should have put up a warning or something....

GK: The origional pencil drawings are on standard Marvel comic book paper, and they're 11 by 17 inches. They're generally full page size.

DTran: Thanks! Are there other Dave Finches on here? I haven't seen any anyway.

Young Paddy: I put up the back, thanks...I didn't realize I had done that.

Ron Dominique: Thanks a lot. I checked out your site, and there's a lot of really cool stuff out there. You definately have done the whole circuit!

TheMagnetic: It's Steve Firchow who does the great colors....I did the Batman one, but that's it. I wish I could take credit for his stuff! I'll post the pencils for those guys very soon.

Titan: I really appreciate it. I was just losing interest in comics around when I did Aphrodite, and I just wasn't really ready to work to a schedual the way that I should have. I just kind of walked away from it. I really do wish I could go back and put in more of a respectable run....it was a fun book. But it took me a long time to finally decide that I actually wanted to be an artist for a living, and not just putz around.

Jar: It's the one and only Jonathan Rector! And in my thread no less... I'm speechless. hehe. Thanks man.

Goldmane: You definately got that right with the Silvestri. He's my old boss, and a very, very big influence on everything I do.

Kian: I am honored, thank you. I really want to get good at doing my own work from start to finish, so it means a lot when I hear nice things about the Batman picture.

Good god man, these are incredible! I've been a big fan of yours since the whole 'Ascension' days. It was your art that got me interested in comics again! You say you're not really a concept artist...I beg to differ!

These are wild. The Batman piece is amazing. I love the colours.

Looking forward to your next post.

    Cheers

wow, thes are deliciously detailed. I actually said "ewwww" when looking at a couple demons, and you know that means they must be awesome.
So in the design process, how were you assigned to do these, was it very specific or did you have total freedom?

Oh how I love to see excellent pathology gone awry! Great anatomical studies showing the bones and organs, et al. and friggin' killer colors, textures, etc!

Awesome textures on these, David! I know you didn't do the coloring on most of them but I know you laid the line-work for them. I'd like to see the color job on the 7th one down. Badass creature designs. Is this game coming out soon? The earth-tone Batman pic is nice too. The only crit I have right now is that Batty's right bicep area looks a big awkward. Hope to see more of these.

Great to see you post here. You are one of the few comic book artists that I try to follow and it's great to see you creating concept art for games. Nice stuff and hope you can post more...
