Desperation

in school we had to draw a picture that expresses a feeling.
the our before i totally wasted a exam so i chose desperation .

here is the result:

btw.. if you don´t see what´s it about (a friend of mine saw too boobs ): its a person falling into a black/dark red "see".

It looks like jolly swimming to me.
Well or that fried shrimps tried to escape the oil pot.
My old art teacher always tell us not to leave white canvas when we paint, and I'll pass that advice to you. Start with something for the background, even if it's random strokes with same color, it's better than a blank background. Of course if you add a little bit of color variation while painting that bg, it's even better. Especialy for this painting, if you have done that, the bg might've got more depth and be more interesting.

yes, youre right about that bg... it wasn´t even supposed to be withe
but we used a new technique (ok the technique isn´t new, but we did it for the first time): monotype print, don´t know if you know that...
i found a description: Monotype – One of a kind print made by painting on a sheet of metal or glass and transferring the still-wet painting onto a sheet of paper by hand or with an etching press. If enough paint remains on the master plate, additional prints can be made, however, the reprint will have substantial variations from the original image. Monotype printing is not a multiple-replica process since each print is unique.

so, because i was too slow or used not enough colour, the bg dried before printing :/

That's what it's called? I thought they are called print making, or some other fancy name. I've seen my classmates doing that, it's very cool.

hehe yeah, pretty lame name but great technique

you can get great outcome at rapid speed, our class drew like 40 pictures in 2h . ok most are pretty crappy but it much fun to draw when you know that you´ve gotta be very fast.
