Great stuff, for sure. You've got a nice style going on.

For crits: maybe mix it up a little? Do some more drawings of males, animals, or still lifes? Try out some different mediums? I've got the same problem - mostly drawing females with pencil. Alas, broadening your horizons will help you improve, and I'm sure whatever you churn out will look just lovely.

    Keep it up, and goodluck!

Hey bart, how you mate? How's adelaide? settling down well? good to see you still posting once in a while, hehe. I think it's needs a little bit more definition like in the area of mouth or eyes.. you know focal point, and a bit of contrast!. cheers

hey mate, nice to see a local
Ive noticed that a lot of youre figures are quite short, your last guy was bout 5-6 heads tall by my count. They should add up to 8 heads tall. ALso you need more tonal indifference, just because an area is light, doesnt mean it should be white, and youre dark areas black, and shades in between.
try some different mediums, felt tip pens and copic markers are great, and prismacolours add nice texture to them.
keep posting and vary your subject matter, do some anatomy studies, some still lifes, enviro thumbnails, gestures, observational drawings..whatever go nuts

bumskee- yes i do agree about the definition in the "eyeal" area and yeah i did know it haha

blanquish - im sorry but i disagree with the height of my last figure by my count he is about 7 heads tall but he is slouching also, and yeas i do do lots more drawing and havent had time to scan or take pictures of them, but thanks for stopping by.

Most pictures are all of my girlfriend with one picture a doodle of hands and forearms my main aim was to focus on rendering with those pictures and not proportions.

    heres a crit-
slow down the rendering, and think more about the contrast.
Its kinda messy, and looks like youve done it too quickly.
Come on dude, update more often!!!

Hey there, thanks for the replies.

Bumskee- Thanks mate, yeah i find blocking in negative shapes firstly conveys more of what i want to capture and yeah she is adorable, hehe thanks again mate.

Blanquish - Thanks for stopping by, the scan actually portrays those drawings rather more messy than what they actually are, they really took me a long time to do, maybe ill re scan them or something to show what they really look like, but thanks again

Here's a lil update, w.i.p of another emily picture, eyes without reference and an unfinished elf just experimenting with brushes.

I really like the recent sketch of the kid. Your ps refed stuff is coming along nicely as well. I was trying to think of what it is that's missing, and I think your eyes identified it. My suggestion with them was to go look at some hogarth eyes or any of android's sps to get a feel for the structure around the eye - lids etc. Looking at your refed and unrefed work it seems that your skipping the underlying stucture and just drawing the outside as a flat object. Think about, and draw, the underlying structure. Then when rendering it think about the 3d forms - put in contour lines if you have to.

    Keep it updated!

really like the contrast on the first one in post #41

in your drawings with outlines maybe you could work with the line quality more? making it thicker where theres shadow and so on. I suck at that

Great range of eye studies, keep it up. My next suggestion would be to try doing sets of eyes (like right + left, same face) to get a feel for that part of the facial structure too.

    And keep updating :p

nice studies. they look a bit rushed though, maybe you could take more care with the planes, like the top plane of the lower lid is usually lit..it has a really nice effect if you can capture it...just small things that make a big difference sometimes. i like the latest sp though, has a cool washed out feel.
    cheers!

Hey guys, havent had the internet in a very long time so i have lots to post.

RenegadePogo - Whoah thanks for the comments, im sorry my pictures makes
you want to die, thanks for having a look anyways.

The first 20 pictures are quick paints i ahve done from a clothing catalogue
from over here in Australia, only about 10 mins each.

The next ones are a quick picture in painter, a quick gun girl in PS
Three Scanned pictures of elves and a Digital Paint up of some
A quick little enviro/person thingy i messed around with in PS
A vector i had to do for Uni, taken from a photo of my G/F
A drawing of a girl sitting at the opera

I know it's a lot of pictures but please look through them and give me your honest thoughts about them.

    Thanks, Tyler
