Lightbulb update: 2.1.05, new update:18.12.07, newest update 02.03.08

new stuff on the last page (update 2.3.08 )

hi, this is my first post^^
see, I do not know how to draw the rest of the body of the lying boy, the one at the bottom of the image.
And I copied the upper boy -.-
anyway, I want to fulfill his body, I just don´t know how.......

also I do not know how I should draw a raised arm, I mean his left arm, (our right).

good stuff good start

u just need some more experience.. i suggest -> studie anatomy - the parts u wanna draw first - then the rest

subdevide parts into EASY geometrie - that helps to allign and orient these objects in 3D orbid

before u draw ur chest in that pose - check the orientation of the chest - where its pointing at - then draw a cube that FITS into that orientation - analyse form and shape of that body part again - try to allign the more complex chest shape into the cube orientation base (the cube is ONLY for orientation-visualisation - in fact u just need a few more lines to let a cube look like a chest - but u have top know em in order to place them right into space*3Dorbit

i made good improvement with subdeviding very complex things into easy geometrie - then i satrted drawing them - cubical simplified - also cut down a sphere into easy geometrie like octragon or dodecagon - analyse their shape - check the orientation - learn to draw it (start with cubes and cylinders or bit more complex cubes - see ur chest as a cube too and ur legs are arms - once u understand how to orient and allign them in 3D space *drawen at ur paper sheet* it will be much easier to draw good legs arms and many other things )

my schedule -> simplifie -> orientation -> proportions -> details

be patient !

pss : just checked ur pics again - try to keep it simple first - drawing realistik looking stuff is very hard - thats why i suggest to keep things simple - saves time and keeps frustration away

post some more pls

keep up

actually, i think elongating the fingers would look better to match the style that you are drawing, but perhaps you aren't at the level where you can "stylize" your work quite yet.

i would also work on the eyes some, make some parts darker (i'm not asking you to change the shape though, i know it's anime-ish)

his head needs to be a little large on top and to the top left. just add more hair.

the hands look wrong because you need to hint at the knuckles/or planes of the hand. i would study some artists like this who also have anime/comic type characters to see how they draw their hands.

not sure if this will link, but here are some references. usually anime guys are pretty thin so that's what i found, but perhaps that's not what you want. link (i just noticed that his pants are sort of low...anyhow)

also you may want to consider putting the pants lower/looser on the waist so it doesn't look so 'pulled up'...

also, don't make your lines so sketchy. vary the line thickness - for cloth folds you prolly want to make the lines a bit softer.

best way, imo, to get the poses right and limbs in diffrent angles, just go
to the mirror and do the pose. If you cant draw it while posing, try to remember as much as you can.
hope it helps =)

these are good but u need LOTSA training to do it right.. pro artists already got that training in there past years of drawing

i suggest - do studies - do tons of studies - studie all body part seperated - then get them together - do more studies

the first studies u do will looke like poop but .. after 10 it will get better.. after 100 u got the idea - do 10000000000 more and u can draw it realistic without ref...
dont get frustrated just because u think it looks crapy or wierd.. i draw b ad stuff to and when i see its crap i tell myself : ahaha again but its ok - u need these bad shittys to get the realistic stuff done -

u cant jump from 0 to 100 . use the 99 stepts to understand how to stay on top

!!check my sketchbook!! and see how i do my studies..i do stuff like that evryday... all the day ! mostly i again and again - i analyse try to see what mistake i made - then i draw again and trie to fix - another pose - another problem - another way to fix - again and again..

btw i like those hands.. i think its just the thumb that looks bad
but hands are really not that easy

keep things simple - then get complex

pss2 : before u do those upshot perspectives .. try to draw a cube to visualize ur perspective field u wanna put ur stuff in - its good to support ur eye and then u just put the character in that box and the flow is automaticly right

sup, Fayt! it's been a while since I commented here. One thing I'm noticing is that you tend to work really fast. I have speed problems myself, actually. Slow down. Use your pencil to measure angles and lengths. Copy those skulls and bones to exactitude. You'll see the improvement soon enough.

hey dude, i will say that on the most recent ones, on the first page, the lips should curve more into the face...right now they are straight. i can do a quick paintover of it to show what i mean, if thats ok with you; if not, its whatever, no problems. the second one, the one thing that really, REALLY caught my eye was the shadow of the sleeve under the raised arm...i really like how you did that and how the shadow changes sharpness as it goes around the arm. not knowing much about value, i can't say whether its right or wrong, but it looks nice. keep working hard dude; good luck!

look at these, I am somehow not able to draw heads in perspective, this is pretty depressing.....

I should have shown this tio you purb earlier, I am so sorry.......

(found it here at CA!!!!)
I tried to do referance to this image, cause it is unbeliveable perfect!!!!
but it is so difficul, well I tried real heads and no skulls, but I am even not able to copy those skulls, too many lines or too less talent, I do not know.......
I think I will not improve if I only copy images.....photo referance it not the best way, is it?? maybe it is good, but not all the time, should I start with bodys again?

hadn´t I posted this in that other post of mine??

in one week I have christmas holydays and want to study effectively, so please some replys and advices this time^^

Well don't take this wrong but it's no surprise that you aren't able to draw heads in perspective. YOu do even say that you are not able to draw this skulls from reference and this is nothing special as well. You really need to get the basic ball- headconstruction right ( http://www.anticz.com/heads.htm ). Draw HUNDREDS of these ( I am not kidding, draw about 300 of these at first) And draw them from every angle. Do not shit em on the paper, draw every line carefully and with thinking about what you do. And if you have mastered to draw these simple heads from each angle you can think of, you can move on to the skulls. If you want to draw real portraits without even knowing how the very basic construction of the head works, it's simply senseless to go on.
Keep on working hard(er) and in a few months you wont have the problem with drawing a right looking head in perspective!

yo fayt, whats up? i like what youve done with the charcoal stuff (it is charcoal, right?) it has a nice feel. go on, experiment with different media, and have fun with it; maybe itll help you undestand things that you dont understand at the moment if you can work things from a different perspective. some of the recent heads (12.17)...its like you grasp the lines, but you're just copying them. when doing them, you really need to think about it, and understand why the lines are where they are, not just memorize them where you see them. understanding them will help you be able to draw from your own head. you have one really good one on the 3rd page of that post, 3 other decent ones in that post. some of the ones that are off are messed up because you werent seeing the head as a ball, and as a result you didnt make the lines to line up the features curved enough. like gloom said, really study the ball-construction method and do hundreds of them. so its not like you cant do it...you just need to get consistent at it. i couldnt tell you how many heads i had to draw, how many years it took me to learn how to draw heads in good perspective, and that was with no real direction. you have direction, you have resources...all you need now is the drive to get better. i think you have it, but its up to you to prove it. so get crackin on some heads!

ps. i cant see the most recent post, its just red x's, so if youve started to do heads i cant see it. but either way, keep on drawing man. happy holidays dude, enjoy break and draw tons.
