Hey great stuff, I like your concepts in vehicles and your poses. You handle also pretty well the digital stuff. The only think that I could say to make this critique almost useful, is that sometime the faces are not good, and sometimes the torso is longer than it should, and stuff like that, in other words, you're not completely consistent all the time.
    Anyway, very inspiring.

happy new year man and DAMN! This is really good. There might be a little too much separation between the muscles but this is a more cartoony kind of character so it does not really bother me. It has been nice to see your art in 2007, keep sharing 2008.

Wow! Gimme some more tutorials man!! I like the overall feeling of alot of your pictures, you have the ability to surge a thought through a whole picture instead of just getting it in the character itself.
    Well, I'm amased.

Possible crit is that... I would like to see you experiment a bit more, pushing values etc

    Cheers! abee.

Thanks guys. I will probably draw less in the presence, due to devoting some effort to 3d art. I will of course improve on 2d still, since everything relates to it - knowledge is skill.

    Hi there,

Haven't visited ya sketchbook in aaaaaages, think I made a comment about an arse last time hahaha. I see you still like to draw the girlies! I must say, since I last came by your work has improved immensely! You have a better sense of composition and colour, and your poses are starting to be much more dynamic. The images are feeling more finished compared to before too. The last posts of the beast and wrestler are great! You're becoming pretty good at the whole foreshortening thing I see. It's an area that I struggle with quite a lot!

I'll be sure to drop by again some time and check out ya updates! Keep posting!

    Safe!

Love the radioactive wrestler, really great caricaturing of his body. Is he from the Chernobyl luchadore league?

The Ryus look good in general, but the bottom one has a bit of a chunky shoulder muscle, I know it's for 3D but I don't think it should be so exaggerated as to throw off the anatomy. His cheek bone also looks a bit smashed in (too far back on his head.)

wow you've come a long way seeing the whole progress throughout your sb.
I'm nowhere near even criticising your digital drawingskills. totally loved the last purple horned beast and radioactive wrestler. thanks for the processshots as well. just wanted to know if you already knew what you were going to do with the sketch or just let it guide you.
your pencil drawings seem to lack behind a bit though. you should put the same effort into them I'd say. I'm sure they'll turn out great.
    keep it up.

    Thanks guys.

I wanted to try drawing a pic using one brush only, see how far I get.

This is default brush with thickness toggled to pen pressure only, also keeping the opacity on 100% at all times, so when blending, I would have to manually pick the right tone and colour.(Sometimes unsing Eyedropper with ALT Key)

Just to answer monotony, I always start a picture with a plan, without one my pics look rather crap anyway I started the line art on a default rezolution 1024x768

then blocked out colour and mood(I did cheat on this bit, toggling opacity to pen pressure)

    then started the detail

    more detail

even though I worked on 1024 so I wouldn't have to shrink it, keeping in its true size, I did shrink it 800x600 for this sketchbook.

If you see anything worth improving, let us know, tata.

one thing on the last pic though, why make things more complicated then they need to be? (just wondering what the reason is)

    Thanks matt

Lotet, to answer your question, I intended to learn gradient and blending properly, by forcing myself to doit thoroughly, undertanding more out of it, is the result.

In philosofical terms, drawing is like a trick, an illusion you perform, to execute the trick well you need to learn the "steps" that lie behind it thoroughly.
Even behind a soft brush with 50% opacity lie so many steps you might miss out valuable information that might confuse or even hinder to perform greater tricks in future.
