Looks nice man!
Lol, lefhanded drawings? Pretty good job then![]()
I like the line work a lot on the lefthanded stuff! Would be cool to see more of those - and it fits the characters really well.
I dig the baby![]()
Whoa! Lefthanded studies? I've tried..... they came out looking like a steaming pile of shit. Kudos to you for making 'em not look like it
The lobsterdude needs to have his shoulder pushed a bit back. It looks like theres a twist in his torso that isn't followed through to the rest of it.
Good lookin' out tho! Waiting for an update!

I've mentioned before that illustration has made me lazy and sloppy. . .so i'm trying to get back to my "roots" and going for more of a traditional look.
Here's more of my crustacean/underwater humanoid sketches
Promise to have the figure sketches up by end of week

I'm diggin' on your rendering. I especially like the fat dude at the lower right.
The girl is a bit skewed, though. Is the mouth on the shouting guy supposed to be that pushed that far to the side? Maybe it'll be clearer when you get it done.
d-C
dCepT - nope I totally screwd up the screaming guys face. Originally he had his mouth closed, and because most of my sketches are done at work I wasn't really paying attention between the times I sketched and the times I had to work . . .so that's what happens. I work the summer as a caricature artist, and when some one wants one done, I have to switch major gears. . .

Crusty littler F..kers lol nice works
I really like the shading in your pencil pieces. I love that fat dude too.
Hope you don't mind me asking, what's a caricature artist?
Caricature artist draws exagerated cartoons of people, usually with a big head and small body.

These are pics from my new sketchbook, I was a little timid about drawing in a new book, but I broke the ice.
The second sketch in the new book, designs for a hippo-dragon for the dragon thread.

Diggin' on the crustacean with the hat being a part of his anatomy!
The new screaming guy seems a bit skewed as well...
Shading is looking good!
Keep 'em coming!

I hope this doesn't sound like an off-handed compliment, but the stuff here looks much better than many of the pieces you post on your own design thread. Lovin' the rendering.
cool shit mang. maybe one of these days i'll learn to work without ref. or not. i enjoy your rendering.
Those are really cool works. I love the man with a mushroom head. XD
The scales on the dragon drawing is really groovy.
Thanks everyone for the comments and support, it really helps to keep ya motivated.
dogfood- I'm actually getting back to an older style, my professional work has continued to push me towards speed (working fast, not the drug)
and it really caused me to become sloppy and worst, so I'm slowly making my way back. . .so expect kick ass stuff on the necromancer pic.

Nice update man! I replied in your activity thread about the necromancer. Really diggin on the expression in his face! Be careful not to lose that when you paint him.
The zombie-hulk-dude has some anatomyissues.. Especially the hips and the legs, but it's a cool concept!
peace

I'm really liking the necromancer (though I'm not sure if he's not a bit short in the legs) and the graveyard, but the zombies don't really appear to be in the same plane. They look to be from references where the eye level is different from that of the piece and some are different from each other. It gives them more of a montage feel. I do like their character, though.
I like the necromancer's attitude, hold his chin high and glance down at the zombie and viewer. It's really nice. I think his legs are a tad short. That big zombie guy is really nice done! I like the yellow stain around the stitches. Although his right foot is a bit tilted and make him look a bit unstable. Other than that, it looks great.
dCepT- Thanks man, right right about the frankenstein redesign, and I realized it way too late. . .not paying attention, watching a movie.
dogfood- I agree with you on the leg issue, and hopefully will be getting it under control before it's finished. After looking at the zombies I have to agree, but only in the "clean" version, I think they work well in the sketch. . .maybe I can bring them back together as I render.
look- Thanks, and you are also right, I've had concerns about being able to keep the "character" of the necromancer into the digital rendering, we'll see what happens.
Thanks guys for taking the time, it's always a pleasure:
"draconic" creature studies. . .

You have real good grasp of animal anatomy. They actually look real and belivable. Kudos to you!
I love that hog with horns, it's just so funny and interesting. That lion dragon is also cool! I want to see more of these, you can make a dragon zoo out of it.
Your creatures look great, I applaud your imagination. The proportioning of the faces looks good, but it seems like there's something off with how some of the heads rest on the shoulders/neck-- could be just because they're zombies or something.
Absolutely love you shading work. Don't know how to described it... detailed and painstaking, but at the same time somewhat minimalistic... Best phrase that comes to mind. Good job, keep it up!![]()

I love it!!!!!!!
If everybody could shade like you, the world would be a much happier place.
Keep 'em comin!!
I'm still working on this, slowly but surely.
This is from the Sketch Trade original design by Aberrant
Also for the Sketch trade, original design by Fellah
look- sorry for the lack of sketch posts, I really like the hog dragon myself, my fav. out of the group. . .and when I get the time I'll be doing more.
razuel- thanks, and you're right about the zombies, I lost a lot of life (no pun intended) when I cleaned up the images.
Aremah- I really missed doing the shading work, and it isn't as time consuming as it looks, maybe 20 min. a picture. My technique is a little rough, I mainly block in shadows and work gradients to white.
Cobi- lol, thanks - can't imagine doing anything to make the world a happier place, but here's to wishing.
Thanks everyone, pleased you stopped by-

Some very nifty stuff here, Rick. Minor anatomy/perspective issues are visible even to my eyes in some of the pics, but your imagination and your plain (but detailed) style are really something. The necromancer's looking great. Keep working on it (and the other version if you can)!![]()
