Onir - Perspective is a bit off beacause I'm not using ruler as usual . Yes. It's from imagination.
hpslashluvr - I'm doing my best but there is always some inperfection in lines. Maybe some day it's going to change.
ransom - thanks. I find time by not sitting on this forum for hours .
    glikster - Thanks, man.

Today only this speedy for DSG 1078: Character - Anteater man

    hey farvus,

cool to see that there's is still a lot of diversity in your stuff now as back in page 1!

regarding the perspective that glikster was commenting on... the lines look pretty much correct. Though the shadows look actually smaller than the objects which indicates a very large light source very close.

hey cool anteater man, I like his outfit and the way you did his face alot. kind of a stiff pose, but all in all it looks good; especially for a quick sketch. the most recent painting you have came out really nice, love the color choices. I'd assume that's taking place in space? getting that idea from the rock they are standing on; kinda looks like it would be floating. either way great stuff once again.

machzero - thanks. I'm going to keep that diversity.
hpslashluvr - thanks. The last one is just a speedy. When it's unsuccesful, I make new one.
    Onir - Thanks, man.

    New enviro speedies.

    Some sketches.

i love the sense of mood and depth in this one. not too big a fan of the first environment, i think the color palette is too diverse and it's not apparent where some of the light is coming from (prolly cuz i am stupid)...i love the arches though.

love these speedpaintings Farvus, especially the second one. has an alien sort of feel to it. great pencils as always as well, really like the way you rendered out his suit. he does look a bit feminine (not sure if you were going for that), partly because of his stance. again great stuff though, keep it up.

hpslashluvr - thanks. I had problems with lightning in the first enviroment beacause it was quite complicated interior.
Onir - thanks. You're right about the stance. I still make quite random poses
    blanquish - thanks, man.
machzero - to be honest, I don't think much about the composition. It's all from my intuition . At the end I look at it and think: "Oh, what a nice composition"

    New enviroment speedy.

    Some doodle

    My cat drawn from life

This one is from my enviroment sketchbook. From life

    Quick architecture sketch.

i LOVE the cat!!! it's just enough to suggest the form.

the architecture is also really superb. do you use a ruler? you make me want to learn to do my hatching correctly ^^

you might want to start doing matte environ paintings...like not complicated ones but maybe starting with a photo will give you some good ideas and it's very quick.

hey farvus, nice speedpainting as usual I like your use of textures alot. your pencil sketches are looking GREAT! seriously, that cat looks amazing, definitely well done. the environment drawing is beautiful as well; as Emily said your hatching is really good. honestly I'd say your improving with pencils alot and these are showing it alot. the doodle you have definitely shows that you are getting good with displaying values and such... alright though wish I could crit some stuff but not much I can really say great stuff once again, keep it comin.

    glikster, fooxoo - Thanks!
hpslashluvr - Thanks! I think I'll do more cat drawings. I just have to wait for good moment . I didn't use ruler in the architectural drawing.
Good idea with painting enviroments from photos.
Onir - I practice hatching by doing lot's of self-portraits. It helps a lot. Thanks for dropping by.

Apologises to SSG team for not posting lately. I've been drawing some self-portraits mainly. Today I'm a bit ill but I managed to scan the rest of studies.

    Sketchy character design (openCanvas).

Architectural doodle on old paper. This time with help of ruler

Burne Hogarth's "Drawing human head" studies.

those head studies are looking superb. some of the mouths look a little off but i suppose you're looking at refs and i just don't know what i'm talking about.

the architecture is also looking nice...if you told me you didn't draw this one with a ruler either i would go off and kill you >.<

with the char...it looks kind of like some of the body parts are not all facing the same direction...esp with the feet - something about them looks a bit off.

    Hope you feel much better!!!

    hey farvus!

the real life studies are looking good! The quickie one looks great... shows one point perspective is all you need sometimes, eh?

On the "paper + ruler" architectural study looks like the two VPs are a little close together, making the corner less than 90 degrees. I get that problem all the time too... have to end up eyeballing it or doing the hard way and doing a 2D->3D projection.

I have a somewhat similiar issue with legs too... the body's fine, and then the legs end up with nowhere to go and end up in a pose that offers no stability.

hpslashluvr - Thanks! I have to watch more for knee direction. It decides how the whole legs are shown.
glikster - All thanks must go to Burne Hogarth. I was just drawing from book .
machzero - Such perspective was intended. I like sharp corners .

I feel much better now. Didn't have chance to draw today but I must keep this thing daily.

This one is few days old. Character design from spam thread in lounge that turned out to be quite creative activity.

Quick enviro. This shadow bothers me a lot. Wrong colour.

great work man, love the way you are doing your character designs, seems like you really think out how you want them to be before hand. great perspective work on that architectural sketch and nice job on the most recent enviro sketch, really makes me wanna start working at perspective stuff.. no idea what to crit on lol, great work either way.

    Onir - thanks for comment.

Sorry for not very frequent updates. It's really hot in here and I can hardly concentrate on drawing anything. Last year during summer I didn't update anything at all so as you see, this time it's much better.

Today I'm going to some international art camp that is in Czech Republic so unfortunately no updates for two weeks. I'll bring back with me lot's of life drawings and paintings so prepare for very big pack of pics.

Here's only one image. I tried smudge stick.

hey man sucks that we won't get to see anything for two weeks, but have fun at that camp, I'm sure it'll be alot of fun/a good learning experience I like the way the glasses came out, smudge stick seems to have worked well. the shadows throw me off a bit, but otherwise great stuff.

Thanks all for good words. I'll return the favour a bit later beacause I'm very tired right now.

I made some ArtCamp2006 in Pilsen thread for short review, photos and some big format works.

Here I will post everything that appeared in my sketchbook.

Train station in Wroclaw in Poland.

    Lamp from the train station.

    Girls drawing.

    Lake's waves stidy.

Textures of trees and some rock .

Musicians during the jazz concert. It was very dark so I hardly saw what I sketched.

Very old roman church in Pilsen (but I sketched the younger part of it)

Very old tree. Combining brush pen and fountain pen .
