Carnifex - Thanx, I tried a few of your suggestions...see if you can pick em out!

Fellah - Yay! Thank you! Ah, before you get too-o impressed, I have drawn humans like this before (a long time before). It's just recently I was trying to be more realistic, with the result of stiffness. However, succumbing to my cartoony side with humans has been very satisfying!

Page numero dos! I even did Jay Leno at a friend's request...tho' whether anyone would say that he looks like Mr. Leno is, of course, debatable...

he does somehow have a certain likeness, although you'd probably need more "oldness" folds. also i think jay is abit fatter.
hehe, spotted 'em. now make the punk and nerdy schoolgirl.
other suggestions might include the bodyguard, the baseball-kid, the burger-eating fatass, the movie nerd and the sheriff.

Will do! I don't know which time period I picked for Jay - I just looked at a picture from Google images. I think it was a couple decades ago...whatever.
    I'll do those suggestions next...

Just some doodling around from last night...was trying to find something to ink for you, TheMagnetic, but couldn't think of anything. I promise, I'll do something one of these days...

Glad you like 'em, Carnifex...and I will, Oomgawa, but my imagination is starting to stutter. Any suggestions?

This should (should!) be easy, if I did my job correctly...Guess which is which:

Thanks Icey! Yes, do start a new thread please! I wanna see!

Whenever I get stuck on what to draw, it's always best to go back to hand and feet studies - can never do enough of those.

haha the little chara is cool. good work on the feet-i never manage to do them properly. should properly train with a mirror, but i get cold feet so fast
on them hands you should probably try to make them edgier.

Edgier? Have you seen the way I draw? I don't think I know what edgy is, much less draw it!

Some expression studies with hands/body language.

what i (probably?) meant was to vary the lines more and make longer sweeping lines-as in your cartoon stuff. because on atleast one of those hands i see that you made it out of hundred tiny lines-which makes me guess that you're quite insecure about your lifedrawing.
    just my guesses.
    love them gestures btw.

Ooh, I see what you're saying. Well, you're right about the 'hundreds of tiny lines' - but actually, that's how I normally draw! But, you're also right that I'm not as solid as I'd like with my life studies. Just have to do more, I guess.

Don't really know what I was thinking for this page, aside from the humerus...just doodles, really.

    Thanks!

More doodles, some dinking around with Loomis, and further study of Nimitz, the six-legged treecat from Sphinx. After reading "Ashes of Victory" by David Weber, I realized that treecats have two pelvises, not two shoulder sockets...so I had to revisit.

wow! seriously inspiring to see you work out the anatomy of the creature so thoroughly that you can portray its various poses and actions! I'm hooked!

    EDIT
I took a look at your website. Adorable pics!! My only crit is in your animation section, the walk-cycles are very stiff. the second one (the boy) is looser, but still, I think the fact that neither of their heads move at all and that their spines don't bend keeps the figures stiff.

gotta love that six leg. the second pair is integrated so nicely you don't notice it on first look, esp. on that lying pose.

glikster - thank you! I do try. 'Bout the walkcycles - yeah, they're not the best. I did them really quick for a potential job, and it was the first time I'd used a wacom tablet to animate in Flash. Bleah. Don't worry, they'll disappear...

Fellah - Appreciate it as always, especially when you're such a wicked penciller yourself!

Carnifex - Yeah, Nimitz is fun to do - not to mention challenging! You'll see more of him today..

DjCut - (Blush) thank you! That's very flattering of you to say. I look forward to seeing your sketchbook thread - you will start one, yes? But I wouldn't try to draw exactly like me...you will have a killer style all your own!

sorry I haven't posted in a few days - no access to a scanner. But, to make up for it - four pages! Whee!

To start - more of the six legged cat, Nimitz, and some detail sketches of his peculiar features...such as: treecat tails are actually prehensile, and when they're not flattened out, being used to dangle from a branch, they are rolled tight and look like any regular cat's tail.

Next up, some studies I did with a range of pencils, from 8H to 8B. I'd type up my notes, but I'm in bit of hurry today...no telling if anyone would want to read them anyway!

And finally, some sketches I did after going to a Medival Fair in Port Gamble, WA. That was a lot of fun to see the different costumes!

hella cool-dig them environments specifically.though nimitz is very good aswell. i gotta say though that i don't quite like that he has a pair of hands. takes away from his animality, which i like quite much. more paws please!

Thanks - as for Nimitz, he's based on an actual character in a book series by David Weber. If I messed around with him, I'd have all sorts of Honor Harrington fans screaming for my blood! I just draw what I read... But if you like, I could take a shot at a hexapuma from the same series! They're about the size of a regular mountain lion...just with six legs. No hands with those bad boys!

Okay, this here is Zar. He's a character I've had for a long time and revisit occasionally. He's a Snow Wolf from the Dragonback Mountains. Snow Wolves get to be about the size of a Halflinger Horse (small draft horses) when they're full grown. They hunt in packs, and their main source of food are Musk Oxen. In the world they live in, they are actually regarded as a myth - at least, by those who live further away from the mountains. No one on this world EVER wants to personally meet a Snow Wolf - they have a ferocious reputation - but they are actually quite intelligent and friendly...in the right circumstances.

And this is Storm as a young girl...just for fun.

All right Carnifex, here ya go - some working up sketches to drawing that hexapuma. Been studying lion skeletons first - although you'll notice the bottom skeleton has, 'ahem', six legs...sorta, ran out of space . I'll do better next time...

Glad you like, Wizard. Feel free to suggest things you'd like to see, I'm open to subject suggestions. (well...within reason...I'm not really into girly sketches or zombies or other things of that nature...but I think you can tell that by the things I draw! )

My crummy attempt at a self portrait... Grrr...I'll do another one today and try and salvage my ego...

    Fellah -

Carnifex - well, my eyes are correct, it's the cheekbones that aren't! They are too far out from my eyes. That and the top of my head is wonky. I was looking at myself in the mirror with my head tilted down, but you can't tell 'cause I messed up the crown of my head! No photo ref - just me, a mirror, and a badly drawn head...

Davey Jones - Hey, nice to see you here! Thanks for dropping a line. And thanks...you're too kind!

Okay! Tried again, and I like this effort much more. In the past, people have remarked that I look like the Afghan girl on the cover of National Geographic. Well, judge for yourself - for myself, I only see small comparisons here and there. Anyways! I promise I won't do a whole whack of these - I'd get bored, and no doubt everyone else would too.

I got another page coming today - more skeletons!
