Lemmy ( + Joey Ramone update )

I've had a bad case of artist's block for a few days now. I find the best way to try and get over it is to stay calm and just work through it, so this evening I sat down to paint something. Winamp chose to play some Motorhead, so I decided to have a go at portrait of everyone's favourite gravelly-voiced crooner. This is what happened.

edit: I liked Nicolas's suggestion. Tried for a more respectful image for dear old Joey. RIP.

Very nicely painted though. Cool style, brush strokes and colour choices as usual!

Ha, very amusing. My attention was always distracted by those warts on his head, though. Funny, that, how one's eye is drawn immediately to physical imperfections. Yeah, definitely very nice work.

Weeeelll, there's always Ozzy! Or how about Angus from AC/DC? Perhaps Sidney himself, of the 'vicious' variety... Did you know Lemmy says he taught Sid Vicious to play bass...? Hows about immortalising Kurt Cobain with your deft brush?

Plenty to choose from, eh?

I suppose the trick is finding someone who lends themselves to exaggeration while remaining recognisable - a lot of rock stars ( especially the rock dinosaurs ) are walking caricatures anyway, so they're easy targets. Perhaps a quadruple portrait of classic era Kiss?

I dunno. Might try for a more serious portrait next time. We'll see.
