The price of Wacom's!!

Hi everyone.........I'm sorry, its another one of 'them Wacom Posts' (wacom should have a spokeperson on this site to answer questions)

Here's my annoying Wacom question. I'm from the United Kingdom and want to get a Intuos I, II or III preferably A4, but i am a broke student

where can i get one? i have looked on Ebay and all of the Intuos I A4's go for about £150+

I compared the UK price with the USA price and don't understand why there's such a big difference.

UK PRICE
Intuos 2 - A4 serial, Dabs.co.uk £417.99

USA - PRICE
Wacom website (USA ONLY) Intuos2 A4 tablet with Serial connector (PC) - $469.95 (converts to £245.91)

If you're too poor to afford an Intuous, buy a Graphire. Either that or mug some kids for their lunch money.

lol.....don't think the mugging is a good idea (i am a uni student not a ten year old student)!!

Its not that i can't afford a wacom as much as i am wondering why do i have to pay £450 for a intuos2 when they're in the US for £250

and if i order one from the US it'll be a big delivery charge if there is a site that will even deliver here

Intuos are teh expensive.
Get a Graphire3, much cheaper, perform very well. Or so i've heard.
Intuos range are aimed at really hardcore professional people, with alot of money.

That's including VAT right?

I think that's the bump right there. Taxes are hell in Europe. That and the fact that more wacoms are sold in the US (bigger market = cheaper prices).

In all honesty, I did great (for many years) with just my PenPartner.

Here's one of many pics I made with it (this one is a painting of my son Brody):

I still have the PenPartner. Granted I upgraded to something a bit (cough) nicer recently. But, this one still works fine. Plus, it really fits well in the hand and would make a good complement to your other tools anyway.

It's yours if you want it... just pay for delivery from the US.

Though, it might be cheaper to pick one up there.

My suggestion is to just get the best pad you can afford. Talent is still your best tool.

Although I recommend you to get graphire, unless you really don't mind throw in extra money for intuos.
I used graphire for almost 3 years and finally got myself a intuos 3. But honestly, I cannot tell the difference except that my intuos has larger drawing area. T T I don't feel the extra 512 sensitivity level, don't feel the pen tilt. Intuos came with 3 different types of nibs, I tried them on, felt very little difference between each type, and I probably will stick with the regular nib for the rest of the intuos life. And I never use the fancy little pad on the sides either. So unless you really don't mind the money, I don't think it's really worth it to get the intuos. =/

All the same, $269 for a 6x8 Intuos3 ain't too bad.
