hey waka
some definite improvement here. just keep um comin. good studies.
a lot of good stuff here, i esp like some of the head / face studies. re your anatomy, i think you would benefit from studying the skeletal frame - your muscle studies are very nice, but they tend to lack the knowledge of the underlying structure.
keep it up![]()
Hey, man! Sorry I haven't been around to reply... good thing you kicked me in the ass on msn
You're progressing like hell! My favourites are the portraits done for the cd cover in pencil. Head and shoulders above the other stuff.
I didn't read all the comments, so I might be repeating someone... sorry if I do... But it seems you are obsessing a bit about speed used to complete a sketch... If I may make a suggestion; slow down a bit.. I've found that when I just think "to hell with speed" and sit down and try to make very stroke confident, regardless of it takes me longer, the outcome looks better.. and I found that I get results faster by slowing down the physical speed
Good show! I'll try to stop by more frequently... keep prodding me on msn!

hey mate!
i like the ballpoint and pencil scetches, i think they look better than your digitals. maybe try doing the same thing in the digitals? or scan your pencil scetches and color them, maybe a study of light on a scanned pic would be interesting perhaps?
the eye image seems to be the one i like most of your digitals, it got som swooshy lines and some real determination in it, not any insecure brushtrokes there!
and..
DRAW!
hope i did give you some motivation nowhehe.
hey , your paintings are coming along nicely, maybe you could try a photo study or something for a value and colour study
dubbelpost
Lefran: Thank you, i will do that
Failoniir: yeah, you gave me some motivation alright

wow! you've developed a lot man! Especially the face on the last update looks good. Keep going with the studies.
btw, visst inte att du snackade svenska? ;D

good update, watch out for drawing/rendering with too much of #....because it creates focus... you can always make the lines follow the same angel and twist/rotate the line at needs when the form bends in and out.... check my latest esclusive sketchbook update... the zoomed in version...
cheers and good eyestudies...now do more![]()

Howdy! ^_^
I think the amount of studies you do are inspiring! I believe at this point you should really start trying to understand all your structures in their most simple forms. J.C. Leyendecker does an amazing job of this, as well as Loomis in his instructional texts. Once you have locked into your mind a "Generic Norm" of most body shapes you will find the simplification and in turn proportions will come much easier. Rather than an outlining contour the overlapping of the simplified shapes is what's going to give your forms structure and depth.
I hope that helps in the slighest.
Here's to pretentious suggestive babble![]()

Hey.. was fun painting! If you want a crit in passing, try to use both big brushes as well as the small ones there... scribble-rendering alone looks, well, scribbly
Holler at me again soon so we can paint some more

Don't forget about the joints in the fingers when drawing hands
Nice progress, and I like the CD cover you made for your class. Cool stuff!
in the OC piece, it looks like the bg is the fg (as in, on the same leve as the guy in front!) This is mainly due to values (hah, I'm one to talk). Things that are closer tend to be darker, whilst things from afar look lighter.
Something like this:
ish
Hope all is well and thanks for stopping by my SB! Byeee,

This eye is nice http://i4photobucket.com/albums/y136/wakazou/demeyes.jpg,
but I didn't get the group on post#137, they're all pretty vague both form-wise and shape-wise.
One idea I had that might be useful is that overshooting lines is good when drawing angular shapes, I remember back in the day in Geometry class we were taught to overshoot lines when connecting points because it makes the points easier to see, it doesn't work so well when trying to draw curved shapes http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y13...u/demeyes6.jpg.
The abundance of lines obscures the shape.

dCepT: My man! thank you!ill paint a lot with ta
heres a quick scribble just before i go to bed.

latest update is great, the head/face is the best, the rest is too "feathery"...too many lines
cheers!
