Whoa! The last one is amazing. Good job. I did lately some spaceship design with intent of showing such section view but lost patience for finishing it half way.

Nice. I'm glad your updating again!!
utter genius as ever !
great stuff lad.
Farvus,Gangsta Geek, bearfoot - cheers guys!
angelo cordon - with those lighting studies I was trying to keep in mind colour temp changes in the environment and on materials. Still have a lot of study to do regarding that.
Recently I've also been trying to maintain a hierarchy of considerations for any piece I start.
Something like this although it isn't set in stone:
1. Idea, Concept, Mood or Story
2. Composition
3. Design
4. Direct and indirect Lights and Forms
5. Local Colour
6. Texture
7. Atmospherics and FX
Of course there are many other considerations but I try to keep it simple in my head.
Some anatomy studies

love the arms! ;o and yea sorry for late reply but ya i graduated from UCLAN about 2 years ago and ive been working in the Games Industry since, but honestly i wasnt a fan of uclan :/ didnt seem like they cared much wether or not you got a job but just wanted to process you through the 3 years with a good degree :/
how about you ? did you actually learn anything from uni or was it all done in your free time?
Nope - the course was a joke when I was there unfortunatly. I wasted a lot of energy making offical complaints to the student union.
In the final year I didn't even bother going in anymore - just stayed at home and taught myself. I was aiming to be a character modeller or rigger so I spent a huge amount of my study time learning that, and just a bit of time on the side doing sketches for the DSG on cgtalk, which is how I fell in love with painting and concepting.

I'm a sucker for that cross-section stuff. I think it all started with those educational books where it'd have cross-sections of big Man-o-wars.
Incredibly slick.
Looks amazing!
Wonderful works...Inspiring...I'm interested in the cross section you posted...how long to render this very cool creation please? Thanks!
Fantastic, keep posting please.
blown away by your beautiful rendering. the ship nerds me all out. there's an alien tank in the basement!! ahh will it be set free and eat everyone on the ship?? i also like their tv in the bar area. i wouldn't mind living on that ship for a few weeks. :]

superb!
Just throw those up here huh? I'd eat your throwup any day.
Always an inspiration dude.
Nice anatomy work! Mainly though, thank you for designing a ship I can daydream about.
Minuteman, Sammy, Verehin, Cam Sykes, mike butkus, Kan Muftić, MattGamer, FraserMcT, Koto, Hao Wu, Dirty C, TASmith - thanks very much guys!
LMK - sometimes draw with pen but not often.
The Severed Wrist - it took quite a while - mostly because it was really hard to keep track of overall perspective when zoomed in. I never really use perspective grids because they have a nasty habit of finding their way into design choices but by not using them lots of little errors creep in.
MattGamer - that's the martian lobster they are serving for dinner
This character is a maritime defense consultant...

Brilliant rendering of mechanical designs dude, nasty stuff all around. Anatomy studies are killer too. Agreed, intriguing thoughts on the perspective grid.
So good and so clean!
thanks for sharing![]()

Oh my, I love this SB.
Cheers guys.
I decided to fix a couple of little issues with the defense consultant and turn it into a mock magazine cover.
