Shylone: Do it, its the best practise, enroll in life drawing regularily, it not only helps you with your anatomy, but with seeing things with your eye better, observational skills, the speed you draw at improves accurately and it will encourage you to draw more even if you are not in a life drawing class at the time.
Some nice growth in this sketchbook here. Do you use and traditional mediums for paint? I'd love to see you do an oil piece, well I kind of just like oils i think.
Hey guys, thought i would post some WIPS so you don't think im slackin hehe.
All of the below are Works in progress, so they are incomplete. And i posted some progress shots so far of the one nude figure.
I am also, as i am typing this priming some big canvases for painting, one is 60 x 40, the other, 30 x 36, and thee other 18 x 24 and some others hehe. So lots of traditional painting will be going on. I will post the finals of those when they are complete, until then, i will continue to post as much sketches as i can.
Hope everyone is doing well!!

I am thinking about adding a castle into this one as well.
Sort of a fantasy scene, this one is still in the beginning process.
An old man study, with some additional details to make him look crazier
Still in progress like i said...
That's fucking intense meng. Scary old bastard. Your stuff is coming along awesome! Good to see you're keeping busy. Cheers bro
Thanks dude!
Sweet sb, mate!! Love that most recent mountain range! WOW!! ;]

This one is straight from my head, no ref for anything at all. Kinda a test to see what i have learnt. I hope to do more of these from my imagination. Its much more rewarding then copying.
I like the new painting Justin, it feels very nice. There shouldn't be any red in the trees though, at least not so saturated. I would use a cool grey/blue tone for the highlights, since thats the color of your sun and leaves have very reflective surfaces. You haven't used any ariel perspective on the path at all, desaturate it as it goes further away. Also, wheres all the orange coming from in the clouds?
I think it's good that you're applying all that colour theory stuff, but you need to consider the natural order of things too.
Thanks 2100
Well, like i told you already.
I completely disagree with you with your comment. The red is there for a reason. Go read up on colour theory. And as i told you, i would have chose different colours if i was aiming for a realist piece, which i am not.
I do agree with the atmospheric perspective though, it could use some more, but as an hr speed paint to test my imagination i am not going to correct this.
Also the red is partly due to the underpainting. A red underpainting, giving the painting a slightly warmer feeling. As well as it complimenting the green. I think it it would be horrible to cover up all the beauty under an under colour. There should be some spots that are left un-touched.
Wow.
GREAT Book man, awesome paints.
Thanks dude!
You have made amazing progress this year and I know you are going to have a great 07 *****
Really nice, man. More, more! ;]

First sketch of 2007, so to start it off i guess. This year im going to complete a sketchbook, whether it be good and bad sketches or not. I mean a real life one...
This is all ballpoint pen...And gad damn, remind me to never do this again, it was too time consuming, and i got bored with it, so started to rush. Im more of a fill in values quick kinda guy.
I'll have more work soon.
~JB
My body is totally exahausted lately. I think i need a new life style.
Im sort of getting fed up, i need to go to school so i can get away from work, family and friends, i need a place to focus. Gaad damn!
Seriously though, i am really sorry to all of you for the lack of posts, i will try my best to get them up soon. I will make sure it is a big big update.
Lots of traditional paintings and drawings.
I went to life drawing again the other night, it seemed to go good, it has been a while since i have been able to make it. If only i didn't have to bus 3 hrs into town to go and do it. But it has to be done...
~JB
Hey guys, i made one of those blog thingsI don't know how to add people yet...or even find them. Add me if you want.
I am uploading this because it is easy. I just don't have time right now to take pics of traditional work/scan it. Busy busy.

Wow love that pen enviro, mustve been a real fucking bitch to do, but it paid off well. I really like the richness you're achieving with the pen, too.
I think the new landscape is a bit too low-key, there isnt much there to look at or at least not much interest to make me want to look. Some brighter coloours, more contrast or just texture/application variety would make it much stronger.
That ballpoint pen environment is insane, how did you survive?
Busy at work, mostly with photography...I wonder if i should make a photo thread too, anyone interested...
Got a new life drawing model, she is a black chick with long dreads. Really cool to draw.

Hey man. All studies says I! Your perspective studies are looking good, but they look a bit skewed vertically. I don't know if that was intentional, or not, but if it wasn't, you may want to consider adding a third point on a different horizon line up above everything, so that all your vertical lines end up at the same vanishing point. Good work man, great sketchbook. The improvement here is almost palpable.

Love your work Justin. Lovely life studies...can't wait to see what you do with your new model.
Thanks for joining up with this sketchbook group. Let me know how best I can help you in your journey.
I really like it!Your art makes me realise I still have so much to learn...
Some of the portraits really kick ass.I like the old man's pic, shame it's not finished...but it almost is.
I've put aside references too quickly I think... The most important thing when you draw from refs is to add your own bit, a sort of a signature on the pic, I think... And you're doing well with that. Keep it up!
