Wow, these last 3 are really good. I love the long hair on the last 2 and the shadows on the back of the last one. Oh, and the knife is a real good touch too.

Thank you. Oil paints are far from my strength so I'm struggling with these, but I like them for the most part.
This is painted on the top of an old dresser that someone threw out. About 1 1/2 feet by 3 feet.

The worst part about Facebook is I haven't visited this site nor this thread in forever. I'm still a big fan of your work and it took me a bit to get through what I'd missed that I hadn't seen on FB. I'm assuming you've tried, but if not surely your art is PERFECT for Heavy Metal magazine.
Also, do yourself a favor. Grab a drink or two one day and start from page 1 of this adventure and look how much you've grown as an artist!
Dear Gilead - I have worked my way from page one to delicious page 104 - what a journey! It is rather sad that you don't post as much here any more, it would be great to continue seeing your progression. Thanks for a great journey x

About 1.5' X 4' oil paint on scrap lumber.
Thank you Ally for the kind words. Thanks to all of you who come here, my life is entirely different from before in some good ways and a lot of bad ways. Perhaps I will post again more often.
My mother died this morning. She had a massive brain tumor which caused her tremendous pain and fear. I am unbearably sad and yet relieved that the pain is over.

I'm sorry for your loss, but can emphathize with the feelings of relief having lost family members to long struggles with cancer and demensia
Been doing some small quick figure studies in oil. I'll post some here if you like.

These are about 9"X12" on scrap wood. Oil paints. About an hour each.

My favorite one.

Beautiful studies! Keep it up!![]()
The grain from the wood in 3099 is awesome... while not conventional it could be cool to have the grain running horizontal to a picture where the focus is verticle.
Thank you guys. I don't think I really considered how the wood grain would affect the composition, but it is something to bear in mind.

I am diggin' the atmospheric look of these last few pieces. Keep it up.
As the ego shrinks, so the spirit expands.
Thanks guys.
This one is perhaps a bit too sharply defined, but it came out OK.

My cover to the novel "Fish Punk" by Rick Novy. www.ricknovy.com
A satirical variant of steam punk in which the core power source is fish.
I painted the picture and the title on two separate panels and then Photoshoped them together.

Just perusing your stuff after a long absence. Fantastic work all around man.
I just finished this painting after a long step by step that I've been posting on facebook.

Nice work. Massive skill JUMP from page 1 and 104.
Hey man, I'm sorry to hear your mother passed away =( Love your last piece, made me lolalot! =)
Always refreshing to see your sketchbook, and oasis of traditional paint goodness.
I haven't gone through every page of this sketchblog, but it looks like everything eventually reloaded with the exception of this last page. So I reloaded that much myself.
I have a facebook account which I mostly use to show new artwork. I have a blogspot account which I do the same thing with and I have this page where I do the same thing again. The challenge is finding a way for each of these venues to serve a different purpose and with that in mind post the appropriate content to each. In the meantime there will simply be a lot of repetition between sites until I figure out how to leverage each on to it's unique advantage.
I like facebook the best of the three so far because there is SO much involvement and cross-referencing. In life drawing on Saturday the model liked my drawing, photographed it with her phone and posted it to facebook and tagged me in it. By the time I got home from class I already had feedback. Then I posted an image of the finished drawing and tagged her, and on it went. That's a lot more dynamic than here.
Speaking of life drawing; I started this painting a long time ago and only recently finished it. You can see the steps on my facebook. It's based on a sketch from my life drawing class.
That is looking too hot. The life drawing combined with those
excited aliens came out wonderful. I also can see the satisfaction
on her face, she is definitely cool with the situation. I didn’t know
that facebook is so popular, maybe I will have to try it someday,
to register and to promote my drawings. Take care and keep painting.

Like the last set of paintings.
Thanks guys.
I had started the last painting all in warmer tones, but it felt too cozy. I wanted the sense of being way up in the air so I went for the blues which is more isolating.
Amazing that you have 104 pages in your sketchbook. Your passion and dedication is very inspiring.
The only thing I would suggest is to work on your faces a little more for human females. Sometimes they can look a little off or doll like. I'm not sure what it is exactly. Maybe the eyes are a little flat. I don't know. I would like to see more illustration work from you though. I'm liking what I see.
