    Creature Concepts

Okay I'm a total newbie when it comes to drawing, I do it because its fun and I enjoy doing it. So I need all the constructive critisism I can get (thats how you spell critisism right?)
Heres a wip that I am hopefully going to finish and when it is finished I will write a small detailed paragraph about it.
    Please help!!!

This is the sketch of POD. I liked drawing it...it was fun mwuahaha

So now I began colouring it in... The problem is I'm scared I'll mess it up now if I go on any further....HELP!!!!!!!

So I thought to myself...Bahhh!! Why be scared after all this is only for fun and its not like im going to be doing it professionally...So I started colouring it in and heres it in progress

Now I tried making the leg look like it had a hard shiny shell on it, but yet quite flexible...I dont know if I have achieved this, so please tell me!!!
This was probably the hardest thing do...hmm I'm amateur so

The texture and eyes on the colored part is pretty cool. Keep going.

I made the leg a different colour purposematically, if thats a word it just sounds good...i still haven't finished it yet, so if your thinking oooh the leg looks a bit off where it conects to the body, then dont worry because its still a WIP..

I think it's criticism, though where you are, there might be an extra "e" or perhaps a "u".

It's really tough to work on white or black canvas. It makes getting the right values and colors more difficult. This reminds me a bit of a mutant potato; alarming to the spud industry, but not very interesting. If you're completely new to drawing, I'm not sure you're doing yourself any favors by starting with extra-terrestrial tubers. You'd get a lot farther a lot faster by going through some of the exercises in the CA Academy. You don't necessarily have to do them on line, but there are a lot of really smart folks who know about how to get better (I'm not one of them, so it's OK to despise my squeaky voice and the way I leave coffee rings on the newspaper). Of course, the major ingredient in being an artist is doing art, so if you find your inspiration in alien vegetables, then that's where you need to stay until your interests broaden.
